The 6-7 Division provides a caring and inspiring educational environment in which the youngest members of the Academy community are encouraged to discover the joy of learning.
A sixth-grade class consists of approximately 150 students who come from more than 50 different elementary schools. Each student is assigned to an “Academy family” — a teacher and a group of about 10 students. Academy families meet every day, often eat lunch together, and remain a close-knit group all year.
"Teachers are like your friends," reflects Callia. "You can talk to them about other things and not just your classes, especially with your family head."
Families help students mix and make new friends quickly. Our youngest students also belong to course-based groups that encourage interaction and allow them to enjoy a flexible class schedule and travel to classes together.
