China International Import Expo November 5-10, 2018

The eyes of the world are now on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean where China is getting ready to undertake unprecedented responsibilities. Since China adopted its reform and opening-up policy three decades ago its economy has been growing at an amazingly fast speed. China is now the second largest economy, second largest importing country and second largest country of consumption. Therefore, in the next five years the amount of goods and services to be imported by China will exceed 10 trillion US dollars providing a historic opportunity for enterprises across the world to enter the vast market of China. In May 2017 Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China would host China International Import Expo (CIIE) starting from 2018. China International Import Expo will mark a major initiative of the Chinese Government to demonstrate its firm support to trade liberalization and economic globalization and its determination to open its market to the rest of the world. The expo will help to expand the importation of China promote balance growth of foreign trade and facilitate the participation of developing countries in economic globalization so as to boost the development of open economy of the world.

Shanghai Financial Center

The Chinese government sincerely welcomes government officials, business communities, exhibitors and professional purchasers across the world to participate in CIIE and to explore the Chinese market. They would like to work will countries, regions and international organizations to make CIIE a world-class Expo, providing new channels for countries and regions to do business, strengthen cooperation and promote common prosperity of the world economy and trade. The Ministry of Commerce of China and Municipal Government of Shanghai jointly sponsor China International Import Expo. The cooperation partners include the World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), as well as other international organizations.The First Expo will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from November 5 -10, 2018. China International Import Expo consists of two exhibitions: Country Pavilion for Trade and Investment and Enterprise & Business Exhibition. The Country Pavilion for Trade and Investment will serve as a platform for countries and regions to demonstrate their development achievements in the areas of trade, investment and tourism. The Enterprise & Business Exhibition covers two sectors: Trade in Goods Section and Trade in Service Section.

China Port

Hongqiao International Trade Forum as well as a series of supporting activities will be held during the Expo. Enterprises from more than 100 countries and regions will participate in the Expo and 150,000 professional buyers are expected. China is willing to make China International Import Expo an open cooperation platform to demonstrate development achievements and to carry out international trade for countries and regions in the world an international public good to pursue the Belt and Road Initiative and to promote economic globalization as well as a landmark project to adopt the new vision for development and to boost a new round of high level opening-up to the outside world. The CIIE will invite Chinese enterprises from Consumer Electronics & Appliances; Apparel, Accessories & Consumer Goods; Automobile; High-end Intelligent Equipment; Food & Agricultural Products; Medical Equipment & Medical Care Products; and Trade in Services from across the country to do business. Also, merchants from third world countries will be invited to the Expo.

LAYOUT The Area consists of two sections, trade in goods and services. The Area consists of two sections, trade in goods and services. The section of trade in goods includes 6 exhibition areas: High-end Intelligent Equipment; Consumer Electronics & Appliances; Automobile; Apparel, Accessories & Consumer Goods; Food & Agricultural Products; Medical Equipment & Medical Care Products with a total area of 180,000 m2. The section of trade in services comprises Tourism, Emerging Technologies, Culture & Education, Creative Design and Service Outsourcing with a total area of 30,000 m2.

Hall Plan

National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) is the world’s largest single block building and ex- hibition complex with a total construction area of nearly 1.5 million m2. Facilities at NECC (Shanghai) include exhibition halls, the commercial plaza, office buildings and a hotel. These four facilities are linked together by an 8-meter-high elevated Exhibition Boulevard so that people can easily traverse these functional areas. NECC (Shanghai) has a total area of 500,000 m2, including 400,000 m2 indoor exhibition hall and 100,000 m2 outdoor area. The indoor exhibition area consists of 13 big halls with each of 30,000 m2, and 3 small halls with each of 10,000 m2, all accessible by trucks. Over 60 fully-equipped conference rooms sur- round the exhibition halls. 1.5 km away from Hongqiao Transportation Hub, NECC (Shanghai) is linked to Hongqiao Airport and Hongqiao Railway Station by the city’s metro line. Because of the convenient national highway network, the major cities in the Yangtze River Delta region are easily reachable within 2 hours.
