  • Independent Variable: Amount of caffeine (mg) consumed.
  • Dependent Variable: Heart rate.
  • Controlled Variable: gender, amount consumed (mg), time allotted to consume caffeine, time between measuring of heart rate, environment, age.

Resting Heart Rates:

  • Maggie: 80 beats per minute
  • Abbey: 94 beats per minute
  • Jessica: 82 beats per minute

Heart Rate 5 Minutes After Consuming 46.6 mg of caffeine:

  • Maggie: 96 beats per minute (+16 from resting)
  • Abbey: 100 beats per minute (+6 from resting)
  • Jessica: 92 beats per minute (+10 from resting)

Heart Rate 5 Minutes After Consuming 93.3 mg of caffeine:

  • Maggie: 94 beats per minute (+14 from resting)
  • Abbey: 96 beats per minute (+2 from resting)
  • Jessica: 96 beats per minute (+14 from resting)

Heart Rate 10 Minutes After Consuming 93.3 mg of caffeine:

  • Maggie: 100 beats per minute (+20 from resting)
  • Abbey: 112 beats per minute (+18 from resting)
  • Jessica: 88 beats per minute (+6 from resting)
