Kingsley Ibeneche EPK

Silk City '17

Kingsley Ibeneche calls it “soul music.” As a child dancing and singing in a Nigerian-American church community in Camden, NJ, Ibeneche was introduced to ritual music’s ancestral power. He sang for years in exaltation of that community. As an adolescent, secular spaces gave Ibeneche a chance to experiment with expressive body movement in inviting ways, culminating in formal training in dance at University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Encompass That/ Kknees

Camden-based multimedia artist Kingsley Ibeneche steps forward with singles “Encompass That” and “Kknees,” available for free download. Executive produced by Lee Clarke with additional production by Kevin Ripley and Kingsley himself, the singles are offered in anticipation of his forthcoming 'Realms' EP due 2/15/19.

Kingsley Ibeneche dropped his first ever EP in May 2017 titled "CHi”, a work that delivers a range of dynamic tones and explores hip-hop & folk beats. Kingsley Ibeneche, commanding a lane of his own, is rising promisingly in the Philadelphia music scene.

Combining his love of music and dance, Kingsley strives to make music that fills every corner and ear as he fuses his physically charged sounds with his melodic and fluid movements.

"Kingsley Ibeneche so gracefully moved from ballet and modern choreography to singing and writing songs… Dude is a dancer, dancers are graceful. But CHi, Ibeneche’s self-released debut, is very very good, a fully realized set of songs from an impressive new voice." -John Vettese of WXPN "The Key"

Today Ibeneche is an accomplished dance performer, having shared the stage with Travis Scott, James Blake, Halsey, and others on mainstream platforms like the Gap, Video Music Awards and Saturday Night Live. But no matter how meteoric he ascends as a dancer, Ibeneche feels limited on stage as a backup dancer. One medium is not enough for his expression.
