Long Term Health Plan Erika Opperman

“...as we learn goal-setting, we also need to make sure that we’re using goals to have the greatest possible positive impact on our lives” (11).

“Goals are critical. They keep you focused on what’s important, and allow you to make the best use of your 24 hours each day" (11).

I've always wanted to have a more healthy eating lifestyle, but it's hard to stay on track when your life is busy with school activities and hanging out with friends. “The most important thing to remember is that these are your goals, not your parent’s, your teacher’s, or anyone else’s" (11).

“More importantly, we want to do what we love by focusing on things that mean a lot to us with people we want to be around” (12).

This goal is for myself and to boost my own self-esteem. I don't eat that healthy, but I don't need to go on a diet because that's not my main goal. My goal is to eat more healthy not necessarily to loose weight. This goal will make me happy because eating healthier creates more energy and awareness. I will feel more empowered and stronger than I am now.

“Make sure to consider all of these areas as you think about and plan for the future, so you can set goals that will provide the greatest benefit to them" (12).

My goal to eat healthier definitely won't interfere with my priorities. My family won't be effected because my mom is already on her own healthy meal plan and it won't effect my faith because being a Methodist doesn't have any specific food restrictions or it doesn't hurt my religion in any way.

“Goals should be seen more as the critical steps we take on the path to our dreams" (13).

I plan to ease into my meal plan because this is effecting my day to day eating habits. I will start with fixing my snacking habits then move onto eating healthy with my main meals. This way, I can see how the new eating could effect my body and how I react to it. I could fix anything that is necessary.
