Commercial Design Gavin Roehm

My name is Gavin Roehm and I'm currently a high school student. One of the classes I chose to take was commercial design. I decided to take the class because I'm really into art and thought I would learn new things from it. In the class we do a lot of stuff on a computer and some of the programs we use are Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, and Adobe Dimension. In commercial design we also do things called creative projects. Sometimes these creative projects go with what we're doing in class but sometimes they don't. On my free time I like to paint. I mostly paint with acrylics and sometimes follow along with Bob Ross. Bob Ross is is one of my favorite artists and inspires me to do better because he always said "Anyone can be an artist."

Logo Package: The logo package is all about a coffee shop logo and learning how it can be used in different programs and different ways. We started this project at the beginning of the school year. We were given two weeks to create 30 sketches of a coffee shop logo. Once we had them all done we turned them into our teacher and she chose three of our best ones we could use. After we were given the ones we would use we had to put them into Adobe Illustrator and start creating them without any color. Once we got them we then added the color. The next step then was to turn it to a business card and a letterhead. Once we made those we had to turn the logo into a black and white design.

Blackout Poetry: One of our creative assignments was to create a piece of blackout poetry. If you don't know what blackout poetry is its where you take a piece of paper from a magazine, newspaper, or a book and skim through and find words you want to circle so that you don't cover them. Once you've done that you then want to think about what you're going to do with the page, such as what materials you're going to use and what you're going to put on the page.
