CALIFORNIA CHRONICLES:FIVE FRESHMAN ARE BUSED FROM THEIR IMPOVERISHED CONCRETE JUNGLE OF A NEIGHBORHOOD TO ATTEND HIGH SCHOOL IN THE WEALTHY CONFINES OF A CALIFORNIA HILLS COMMUNITY. INTERWEAVING FIVE PROTAGONIST (POV) INTO ONE SOLILOQUY IS THE OBJECTIVE. A TEACHER (CREATIVE, ENGLISH OR CIVICS) REACHES THEM AND THEY DEVELOP A REPOIRE WITH SOMEONE THEY CAN TRUST BECAUSE SHE IS LIKE THEM, SURVIVING IN THE MIDST OF IT ALL. THESE TEENAGERS GREW UP WITH ONE ANOTHER FROM PREKINDERGARTEN TO LEAVE NO CHILD BEHIND MIDDLE SCHOOL. THEY ARE THE RESULT, THE RESIDUE OF A PRESENT DAY WILD WEST DYSTOPIA, LEFT TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES. A FORGOTTEN TRIBE THAT HAS BANDED WITH ONE ANOTHER FOR DAILY SURVIVAL.FRIENDSHIP DOESN'T DESCRIBE THEIR EMOTIONAL BOND.THE SCHOOL BECOMES THEIR SAFE HAVEN AND IN THIS WORLD THEIR TEACHER IS THE PROTECTOR. CONFLICT: STATUS QUO STUDENT BODY REJECTS THEIR PRESENCE. AKA MEAN GIRLS TROUPE. TEACHERS/ADMINISTRATION RESENTS EDUCATIONAL MANDATED POLICY. EPISODE STRUCTURE: OPEN/CLOSE SHOW WITH OUR YOUNG WORDSMITH PROTAGONIST POETICALLY PHRASING THE PLOT/CIRCUMSTANCE OF THE EPISODE. HE/SHE/THEY LOOK AT THE CAMERA AND VERBALLY DIGRESS A MANIFESTO OF THE DAYS EVENTS, MISE EN SCENE STYLE. ON THE SCHOOL BUS IN BETWEEN TWO WORLDS IS WHERE OUR PROTAGONIST(S) OPINE THEIR THOUGHTS OUTLOUD AS WELL WHEN CONFLICT ARISES OR SELF DOUBT SURFACES THIS IS HOW THE EGO REJECTS IT. IN AN URBAN UNDERDEVELOPED COMMUNITY, POLITICAL, EDUCATIONAL, ECONOMIC AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES DON'T EXIST. THEREFORE DISENCHANTMENT AND DISENFRANCHISEMENT AMONGST THE YOUNG IS COGNIZANT, BITTER AND AMBIVALENT. THE WORDS THEY RHYME POETICALLY ARE THEIR ONLY REBELLION. FIVE STUDENTS ARE AN AMALGAMATION OF OUR WORLD: THE ATHLETE/3RD GENERATION GANG RELATED/THE WORDSMITH-NERD-BOOKWORM[MAIN CHARACTER, PROTAGONIST, NARRATOR],AUTISTIC+HIGH LEVEL FUNCTIONING STUDENT AND A STUDENT WHO LIVES IN A VIOLENT, REPRESSIVE HOME[THIS STUDENTS CHARACTER ARC IS LONG AND WINDING, SHE/HE CHARACTER DEVELOPS OVER TIME FROM FOSTER HOME TO HOMELESSNESS TO LIVING WITH THE OTHER PROTAGONIST. *SYMBOLIC INTERACTIONISM-REFLECTIONS OF A COMMUNITY ARE REPRESENTED:FROM VARIOUS RACES & GENDERS TO THE BODEGA, INCLUDING GENTRIFICATION & RELIGIOSITY.
