God is Holy A bible study

To be holy is to be set apart, distinct, different from. In Scripture, God is called "Holy, holy, holy." We could also say He is "Other, other, other…. Not like you, not like me, completely set apart." And in His holiness, God reaches out to be close to His creation.

Read Exodus 19:10-25

Why were the people instructed not to touch the mountain? (See Exo. 19:23)

What happens when an unholy person touches God's holiness?

Read Isaiah 6:1-8

How is God described in this passage?

How did Isaiah respond when he saw God?

How did God resolve Isaiah's unholiness?

After Isaiah was made holy, what job was he given?

1 Peter 1:15-16 - "But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy'" (NIV).

Do you believe that holiness is possible? Or is this an unachieveable goal?

2 Peter 1:3 - "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." (NIV)

We have everything we need to live a holy life. It is possible!

1 Corinthians 10:13 - "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." (NIV)

We have everything we need to live a holy life. It is possible!

Do you live like it's possible?
