Brunel blog May 2017

It is that time of year again where we will be saying good luck to our year 11 pupils in their forthcoming exams. With only a week left until the start many of them are working exceptionally hard to ensure they do their best. This is evidenced by the Grade Booster Challenge scores from both forms showing how many hours and different revision strategies the pupils are using. It is always a stressful time for the pupils and we look forward to celebrating with them at the end of their compulsory secondary education at their leavers ball and assembly. This is always a pleasant and rewarding evening for those pupils who have worked so hard and represented the school so well for 5 years. It has also been pleasing to see our year 10 students working hard in their exams and getting used to the expectations for next year. So to finish this particular article I say to our superstar year 11’s ‘Good Luck!’. Mr Mayne

Year 7 girls hockey team

With many college competitions taking place at the moment it was fantastic to see our Year 7 girls win the hockey and our boys finishing 4th to give us an overall finishing position of 2nd! This has lifted us up to second in the college championship. Well done girls!!

Compostite relay

Last week saw the West Lancashire composite relay championships at Orrell Water Park. Brunel were lucky enough to have 5 boys representing the school in this event. It is a great event that sees boys of all age groups mixing in a team. Fletcher and Jack were members of the runner up ‘B’ team and Josh, Josh and Ben were members of the bronze winning ‘C’ team. Well done to all the boys.

Reward certificates

It is always pleasing to present reward certificates for a variety of subjects to our Brunel pupils. We have pictured a combination of Maths, Languages, Sport and English. Well done to all and keep up the good work.
