The 6th Bikila Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner was a tremendous success

From red carpet photo booth to stirring speeches and inspiring messages of the night to a delicious dinner, it was a tremendous success! Thank you, Toronto!

The 2019 Bikila Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner was held on Saturday, September 21st at Daniel Spectrum, Toronto, Canada. This year event was a huge success as a result of continued community support and generous donations and sponsorships. Bikila Award once again expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all community supporters and volunteers, without your help the event wouldn't have been successful. As in the past year, the turnout was very impressive, the event was sold out for the third time, and it signifies Bikila Award’s and our community’s exceptional commitment to promoting excellence.

This year, a new category of recognition was created to honour those Ethiopians who have accomplished unparalleled achievement and left a lasting legacy to the country and its people. The first medal of Order of Shining Star of Ethiopia was posthumously presented to H.E. Aklilu Habtewold for his indelible achievement to protect the independence of Ethiopia and his unparalleled dedication in leading the renaissance of Ethiopia.

The award night led by Helen Mesfin from ebs, the Helen Show, inspiring speeches by honorary guest speakers as well as award recipients covered the rest of the evening to the delight of members of the community who attended the event.

The mission of the Bikila Award is to promote academic, professional excellence through awards and recognition given to exemplary Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia whose Lifetime, Academic, Professional, and Community Service Excellence Achievements will empower young people to reach their highest potential.
