MARINWOOD AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM NOVEMBER 28th-December 2nD

Let It Snow!

Even though it doesn't snow where we live, we celebrated all things snow. From snowmen to igloos and making our own snow, we had a great snowy week!

Food Craft: edible snowmen

Yummy yummy marshmallows and bananas made our awesome edible snowmen. We sliced up bananas and layered slices with marshmallows to create our snowman body. For arms we used pretzel sticks. The snowman's face and buttons were made with mini chocolate chips. In the end, we added two mini marshmallows for the hat! They were fun to make and delicious to eat!

Outdoor time

We played at the park on the monkey bars and swings. For outdoor free time we played with jump ropes and footballs. We had a fun time playing basketball and playing "S.N.O.W.", a variation of HORSE. On Thursday, we played outdoor circle games. One was rain-maker, where one person closes their eyes while we pick the pattern maker, they then come back and try to find out who it is.

Indoor Time

For indoor time this week, we played with the puppet show! There was also time for mini Legos, stamps, and lots of puzzles. On Friday we played dodgeball and some of us played inside our igloo with toy houses.

Arts and crafts

On Monday we made snowmen, where we decorate scarves and painted snow falling. On Tuesday, we made igloos with cotton balls and made little animals out of model magic. Some made snow bunnies while others made snowmen. On Wednesday, we made snow globes. We cut out pictures of ourselves and painted glue and glitter to make it look like it was snowing! On Thursday, some of us made Pom Pom snowflakes.

Snow day!

On Friday we had a magnificent snow day. We helped build tunnels in and out of our igloo that led to the front and back door. Many of us cut out snowflakes to decorate the inside and outside of the igloo too. Once constructed we had so much fun running around the building, crawling through the igloo and then doing it all over again. Afterwards, we made "fake snow"! We combined baking soda and shaving cream. It makes the "snow" feel like freshly fallen snow, plus it feels cold too!

We love snow!

REMINDERS

WINTER BREAK: Beginning December 23rd and ending on January 9th, after school will not be open during winter break. We will look forward to starting back January 10th.

Next week

Next week's theme is "Gingerbread". As our food craft, we will be making gingerbread cookies. We will also be making gingerbread people shaped crafts all week. We will have a bounce house and more on Friday!

Thank you
