Quotation Relation from Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry By: Mildred Taylor

"Because he's one of those people who has to believe that white people are better than black people to make himself feel big" (Taylor 127).

Explanation of Connection

The reason I picked "Eye On The Prize" by Sweet Honey in The Rock is because sybolizesthe frustration of the black Americans in the country at that time. The song is saying to hold on no matter what happens to you and don't forget what you are fighting for. It also states that change will come, and it takes time and patience.

How is relates to to Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor is because Papa did not give up when Kaleb Wallace told him to stop. He did not stop when he was vulnerable of losing his land. He held on for what was right until things were corrected.

The quote that I chose is, "Because he's one of those people who has to believe that white people are better than black people to make himself feel big"( Taylor 127). The reason I chose this quote is because white people think they are better than blacks and act rude and disrespectfully toward blacks. Papa is mad at the segregation and thinks it is unfair. He is upset about how whites are treating the blacks and wants it to stop.
