Splashway is a family-owned waterpark an hour west of Houston. After Hurricane Harvey they opened their cabins and campgrounds, for free, to people fleeing the Houston floods. Splashway's brand is "We Are Family". They lived up to that promise, providing shelter, food, water, and a safe place for families.
I spent two days shooting Splashway with a Houston ad agency, a month before the hurricane hit. It's a beautiful place, nestled among towering old oaks in the tiny town of Sheridan, Texas. The waterpark boasts long, fast slides, kiddie pools, and a new wave pool that creates an impressive splash.
The good people at Splashway continue to promote fundraising to rebuild communities shattered by Hurricane Harvey. You can help by donating to the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation's RebuildTX.org. As of August 2018 they've raised more than $100 million and distributed more than $50 million to organizations helping communities rebuild. Donating will make you feel good, like a splash of clear, cool water.
