The Speaker Series @Radiothon

In conjunction with the 3rd Annual Radiothon taking place on March 8, 2017, the RIH Foundation is proud to present the first of our Speaker Series in the brand new Ken Lepin Lecture Theatre. We will be covering several financial topics during a noon hour discussion and later in the day a health focused discussion.

At noon, join us for a Gift and Estate Planning seminar that will touch on: Wills and Estates, Tax Planning and Investments. Speakers include Leah Card, a partner with Fulton and Co and the chair of the firms Wills & Estates group. Leni Reichor, a KPMG Tax Specialist who will outline the tax benefits of gifting cash, stocks, life insurance policies and RRSP's. Also joining them will be Dan Sanford from Glaicar Sanford Wealth Partners. Dan will focus on understanding your assets and building a comprehensive financial and estate plan.

From 4-5pm, Dr Janice Joneja will present on "Food Allergies in Infancy and Beyond'. Dr Joneja holds a PhD. in medical microbiology and immunology. She has been a registered dietician (RD) in Canada and a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in the USA. She is the author of eight books and has held faculty positions at several universities including UBC.

Leah Card - Fulton and Co.

Noon-1pm March 8, 2017 - Ken Lepin Lecture Theatre

Leah provides comprehensive planning advice and implements effective estate plans for her clients. Her presentation will focus on Estate Planning: why you need a Will, a Power of Attorney, medical Representation Agreement. Learn about common estate planning and probate planning techniques (such as joint ownership of land and bank accounts), and what not to do. Estate Administration: when “Probate” is needed, what the process involves, how long it takes, costs, complications etc. Leah will also touch on Estate disputes: remedies for beneficiaries/heirs when executors aren’t doing their jobs properly, Wills Variation claims, and other property/estate related disputes.

Noon-1pm March 8, 2017 - Ken Lepin Lecture Theatre

Leni specializes in personal and corporate tax matters for the owner-managed business, which includes estate and succession planning for her clients and their families. Her presentation will provide an overview of the various ways of making a gift that will match a donor’s wishes and is tax effective at the same time. Her presentation will also outline tax benefits of gifting cash, stocks, life insurance policies and RRSPs.

Dan Sanford - Glaicar Sanford Wealth Partners.

Noon-1pm March 8, 2017 - Ken Lepin Lecture Theatre

Dan began his career in wealth management in 1992, having earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree and CIM designation among other certifications. His decision to enter the financial industry was shaped largely by the experiences of his youth, including those with a family business that was later sold to Kellogg’s. Dan is a Discretionary Portfolio Manager, allowing him to independently manage institutional portfolios.

Dr. Janice Joneja - "Food Allergy in Infancy and Beyond: Its a changing world".

4 - 5pm March 8, 2017 - Ken Lepin Lecture Theatre

There have been enormous changes in the directives for the management of early childhood allergies in the past few years. These changes are sometimes quite confusing for both parents and clinicians. This presentation will discuss the increase in understanding about the immunology of food allergy that has allowed us to implement early measures for prevention of food allergy in infants and to utilise the same processes in developing tolerance to allergenic foods in both children and adults.
