The Rebel Report Back to School Edition!

Above: More than 200 LMS 6th graders participated in Adventure Island during the week of August 13. They met new friends, LMS teachers, and conquered their lockers!

Hello LMS Parents,

We are making final preparations for the 2018-19 school year, which promises to be a memorable one. You will receive a Rebel Report link each Friday throughout the school year. The RR will give you info on the week that was and prepare you for the week ahead. The quick links below should give you easy access to our most commonly requested info. See you on Tuesday!

Next Week's Calendar

1st Day of School -- Tuesday (7:54 - 11:29 am)

Reminder: Tuesday will be a half day. Wednesday and Thursday are full school days. There is no school on Friday!

Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders

We need your help to ensure that all of our students are safe when being dropped off and picked up each day. Students may arrive at LMS as early as 7:20 am, when both sets of our doors (east and west) are opened. Upon entering, students should report to the cafeteria.

A few important reminders:

1. If your student receives bus service, please encourage them to use it! This is the best way to safely get them to and from school on a consistent basis.

2. If you choose to drop off/pick up your student, please be aware that things get pretty congested from 7:40-7:55 am. Students should only be dropped off in the right lane near the curb. Never allow your student to exit the car in the left lane. Please pull forward as far as possible before your student exits. They can enter through either front door. Following this method will allow multiple vehicles to unload at the same time. Have your student(s) ready to exit the vehicle by gathering all bags, materials, jackets, etc. prior to reaching the drop off zone. Know that traffic generally flows pretty well when you drop off between 7:20 and 7:40 am.

Football (Grades 6-8)

Boys' Football starts after school on Tuesday, September 4th. All students must have a completed physical on file before they will be permitted to participate. If you have questions please contact 7th Grade Coach Mr. Koskinen (gkoskinen@troy.k12.mi.us) or 8th Grade Coach Mr. Hayes (mchayes@troy.k12.mi.us).

Girls Basketball (Grades 7-8)

The Larson 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams will hold open gyms on Wednesday, August 29th and Thursday, August 30th from 3-4:30 pm. Team Tryouts will be September 4,5, and 6th from 3-4:30 pm. If you have any questions, please contact 7th Grade Coach Mr. Helfrich (jhelfrich@troy.k12.mi.us) or 8th Grade Coach Mrs. Garavanta (agaravanta@troy.k12.mi.us). Again, participants must have a physical on file.
