CSCSHC Community Newsletter May 4th, 2018

Welcome to the CSCSHC Community Newsletter. This bimonthly publication is intended to keep you up-to-date with all that is happening in and around the school district. We want to share all the great things our staff and students are doing in our classrooms and community. We look forward to sharing our stories of student success, achievement, participation in arts and athletics, and a commitment to philanthropy. We are "New Pal Proud" of our students for achieving their personal best in pursuit of excellence!

Message from the Superintendent

As we wind down this 2017-2018 school year, I would like to take some to reflect on all the great projects our students and staff have completed this year. Our students created and organized an incredible number of service projects and community initiatives. I'd like to thank each and every Southern Hancock student and staff member who has given back to New Palestine and Hancock County this school year. Your passion for community service and giving back is amazing!

I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our teachers . Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. The hard work and sacrifices that all teachers make for the betterment of children does not go unnoticed. I hope our entire community will join me in letting our Southern Hancock teachers know how much we appreciate them. You truly make a difference for our children!

- Dr. Lisa Lantrip

Robotics at World Championships

Congratulations to our three Sugar Creek Elementary and one Doe Creek Middle School Robotics teams on a job well done at the Vex Robotics World Championships last weekend.

Out of 80 teams from around the world, our DCMS team finished 36th. Our Sugar Creek teams finished 55th, 67th, and 68th. Congratulations on a season to remember!

Google Expeditions AR at Brandwine Elementary.

Google Expeditions AR

Google has selected all three Southern Hancock Elementary Schools as test sites for their new augmented reality software called Expeditions AR.

Brandywine students had the opportunity to take the new tech for a spin on Thursday. Our other two elementary schools will have similar opportunities to test Expeditions AR next week.

Expeditions AR is still in beta-testing. It's expected to be released as a downloadable app soon. This technology will allow your students hands-on and interactive learning opportunities through augmented reality that otherwise may have just been photos in a book or words on a page.

Thanks to Google for selecting Southern Hancock as a test site for this cool new program!

Bulldog Buddies

Are you familar with our Bulldog Buddies program? Brandywine Elementary Essential Skills teacher Mr. Agnew started the program to help with inclusion for students with high-support needs. NPHS Senior Ellie Roudebush shot and produced this video about Bulldog Buddies:
