Analogue Media

Analogue media is a product that has moving parts, or you can interact with it physically.

An old fashioned camera, a tape, a magazine, and a record player are all analogue media because you can physically touch the information e.g. Records have the music inscribed on it, and with a microscope you can see this information.

dIGITAL mEDIA

Digital media is data that isnt physically visible. Digital media is data that is stored in codes (0100111001010101) And you can only access it through a computer gadget e.g. Iphone

A PS4, and Iphone, a memory stick, and a go pro, they're all a form of digital media because you can't physically see they data, it is stored as a code on the device and can only be decrypted on a computer device.

Media Platform

Media Platform - Is the way media is distributed from the creator e.g. Tv, radio, cd,dvd

Media Devices

mEDIA dEVICES - iS THE WAY THAT THE MEDIA PRODUCT CAN BE ACCESSED/WATCHED/CONSUMED.e.g. games console, mobile, tablet, computer.

tHREE STAGES OF PRODUCTION

Pre-production

During the planning stage, the script will be written, and the cast and crew will be chosen

Pre-production is planning your project's key scenes. You'd make a story board and draw an image and write whats happening.

pRODUCTION

Filming a scene, voice recording, or animation.

THE PRODUCTION STAGE IS WHERE THE FILMING TAKES PLACE.

Post-production

Editing, Special effects, CGI

when you're in the post-production stage, you would've finished filming, and now everything is focused on editing and special effects

aUDIENCE THEORIES

Hypodermic Needle (Passive)

pASSIVE - wHEN YOU BELIEVE ANYTHING THE MEDIA SAYS, AND YOU DONT QUESTION/RESPOND TO IT.

letting the media spoon feed you information, and not responding to it.

aCTIVE - whEN YOU CHOOSE WHAT TO BELIEVE FROM THE MEDIA.

Choosing what you want to believe from the media.

mise en scene

mise en scene is what can be identified within a scene e.g. What they're wearing, the colours, the body language/facial expressions

THE AVENGERS FILM POSTER USES MISE EN SCENE EFFECTIVLY THROUGH THE USE OF COLOURS. THEY USE THE COLOURS RED AND BLUE ON THE MAJORITY OF PROPS AND COSTUMES. THESE COLOURS COULD REPRESENT justice and independence because they're the same colours on the american flag. the colour red ESPECIALLY could REPRESENT blood, and war.

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR WHEN USING MISE EN SCENE:

COLOURS, COSTUME, FACIAL EXPRESSIONS,body language, ACTORS, TYPOGRAPHY, AND PROPS.

representation

Disabled person collecting benefits, and another disabled person going to vote.

Postive (man voting)

A positive view on disabled people is that some manage to go and vote even if they struggle to get out. They are doing their public service, and some perfectly healthy people cant even dont vote, even they they a capable of doing so.

Negative image of disabled people

A negative view on disabled people is that some dont do anything at all, yet they get money. Even though they need the money, they should get the amount that they need to live comfortably, not a large sum of money that they cant even decide what to use for.

Regulation

what is regUlaTION

tHEY ARE COMPANIes that regulate different media products. for example, the bbfc decides hwo suitable a film is for an audience and they'll either rate it u,pg,12,15,18. Another example is pegi. instead of regulating films, they manage games. some of the age ratings they give out are 3,5,7,12,15, and 18. One example would be gta, which has a rating of 18+.

Research methods

Primary research - going out and using QUESTIONER, survey, and interviewing. an advantage of this is you can get real, and accurate, answers. and a disadvantage is that it'll take a while to gather the information.

Secondary research - getting information from books, magazines, and the internet. an advantage of doing this is that its quick to find answers. however, a disadvantage is that the information could be fake/wrong.

Qualitative - MeAURES INDIVIDUAL OPINIONS,ATTITUDES, AND BEHAVIOUR. aN ADVANTAGE OF DOING THIS IS THAT YOU GET A MORE HONEST OPINION. A DISADVANTAGE HOWEVER, IT CAN BE ANNOYING TO RETRIEVE THE INFORMATION BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN RAMBLE ON.

qUANTITATIVE - mEASURE RESPONSES USING NUMERICAL DATA E.G. TALLY. AN ADVANTAGE OF DOING THIS IS YOU GET VERY SPECIFIC ANSWERS, HOWEVER A DISADVANTAGE IS THAT THE ANSWERS WONT BE VERY DETAILED.
