Abbey Bumbledare Marketing and Theatre Student, University of Findlay

JoJo Photography and Film

Hello! My name is Abbey Bumbledare and I am a senior marketing major with a theatre minor at the University of Findlay. In third grade, I begged my parents to let me audition for a community theatre production of Annie and my life has changed ever since. I fell in love with theatre, spending many years acting in community and high school shows. When I arrived at college, I realized my passion for theatre stemmed not from performing onstage, but from the educational, community-driven atmosphere each show brings. My goal is simple: to be an exponent of theatre as a transformative art form, one I believe connects us to the human experience through spoken word, movement, and voice.

Residence Life at UF

At UF, I currently hold the title of Resident Director (RD) of North Houses. I act as a facilities manager for 60 on-campus living units that hold approximately 160 residents and has a staff of five Resident Assistants I manage. The RD position contains two main components: administrative work and peer leadership. As an administrator, I track the programs, nights-off, and budgets for each of my RAs. I additionally manage my own $1200 budget, adjudicate disciplinary meetings, and organize monthly staff meetings. I ensure my facility provides a clean and safe environment for my `180 residents.

As a peer leader, I offer insights to my RAs through one-on-one meetings and evaluations. Watching my staff grow into strong, unique leaders is the best part of my job! They teach me how to be a better leader, one filled with grace and an attitude of service.

Other College Adventures

Because of the small program size, UF theatre students wear many hats. I've had the opportunity to perform onstage and work backstage during my time as a theatre minor. Below are some highlights from my time onstage!

Silent Sky, September 2016 (Annie Cannon)
