Pathway to Excellence Reference: Effective Talent Programs

"The Village"

  • ILT Summits continue quarterly, with a focus on Progress Monitoring school performance
  • A Baseline Assessment of each school's ILT has been completed by Network Leaders
  • ILT Rubrics are being shared with schools this Spring to guide development of ILT's
  • An Autonomies Playbook is in development to support sites with increased decision-making based on existing and pending autonomies

Quality School Development

"Process of Continuous School Improvement"

  • Site Planning Tools created to support Measure N and Measure G1
  • KPI Blast Weekly to 500+ users (emphasis on best practice sharing, equity focus, and progress monitoring)
  • KPI Sessions w/ Executive Cabinet weekly (building literacy around the data)
  • KPI Session w/ Network Leaders quarterly (focusing on problems of practice)
  • SPF Trainings provided to key central / site staff provided year-round
  • SPF Curriculum for Student Action Teams being created for 2017-18 launch

School Portfolio Management

Pathway to Excellence Reference: Effective Talent Programs

"Closing the Opportunity Gap"

  • Ongoing support for Sankofa program improvements and middle grades transition
  • Finalizing Configuration of MLK Jr. Elementary, Lafayette Elementary, and West Oakland Middle for 2017-18
  • Opening Oakland SOL Middle School as first OUSD stand alone Dual Language Middle School
  • Launching satellite Newcomer High School program as part of Rudsdale program, to be located on the Lakeview campus for one year
  • Facilitating Charter Prop 39 Facility Placements for 2017-18 (pending)

Office of Continuous School Improvement

Helps schools and our district become the "Best at Getting Better"

Key Functions:

  • Measuring & reporting school performance annually & throughout the year using SPF and KPI's (district & charter)
  • Designing & implementing tools for data-driven Cycles of Inquiry, strategic school site planning, progress monitoring of programs, analysis and reporting of what's working & not working, and sharing effective practices
  • Identifying schools for Intensive supports or eligibility for Innovation; & coordinating access & implementation of those supports and services
  • Facilitating decision-making and implementation of new schools, grade configuration expansions, & charter reauthorizations, school mergers or consolidations, and school closures
  • Facilitating team responsible for ensuring annual allocation of facilities for new and/or growing schools, changing programs, and charter school requests

We remain lean by collaborating across the district to ensure that Quality is Everyone's Responsibility
