CSCSHC Community Newsletter NOVEMBER 30, 2018

Welcome to the CSCSHC Community Newsletter. This bimonthly publication is intended to keep you up-to-date with all that is happening in and around the school district. We want to share all the great things our staff and students are doing in our classrooms and community. We look forward to sharing our stories of student success, achievement, participation in arts and athletics, and a commitment to philanthropy. We are "New Pal Proud" of our students for achieving their personal best in pursuit of excellence!

Message from the Superintendent

Congratulations to the NPHS Football team on their 5A State Championship last weekend!

We are #newpalproud of Coach Ralph, his players, and staff for an incredible undefeated season.

Our students enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate with the team during the "Champions Walk" earlier this week.

The football team visited our elementary, intermediate, and junior high schools on Wednesday with the championship trophy.

Our students lined the hallways to give high-fives and congratulate the Dragons. Thank you all for your support of our student-athletes. Go Dragons!

Finally, as we flip the calendar to December, we'll be sharing a number of service and philanthropy projects that our students and classrooms will be organizing to help those in need this holiday season. Thank you in advance for contributing your time and energy to these important causes. We should all be proud of how committed our students are to making the holidays brighter for those in need.

Southern Hancock named Riley Hospital Red Wagon Corporation

We are proud to share that Southern Hancock has been named a Riley Red Wagon Corporation for the seventh consecutive year. Individual schools receive Riley Red Wagon designation for donating $1 for each enrolled student. A school corporation is named a Red Wagon Corporation if every school buildingĀ is recognized as a Red Wagon School. In the past 12 years, the Southern Hancock community has donated over $70,000 to Riley Hospital for Children.

A commitment to giving back to those is need is a hallmark of our curriculum and community. Thank you to everyone that has helped us make a difference for Riley Hospital and children in need.

Early College Parent Meeting

NPHS will hold a meeting for parents of any students interested in the Early College Program. NPHS met with 8th-grade students at NPJH about Early College earlier this week.

If you would like to learn more about NPHS Early College, please join us at NPJH on Thursday, December 6th at 6:30 p.m. Representatives from NPHS will provide information and answer questions you may have regarding the program.

SCE Visions at the Artsgarden

Great job to our SCE Visions Choir for an incredible performance at the Artsgarden earlier this week.

Click here for a short twitter video of a hand-chime performance at the Indiana State Museum earlier this week. We'll be sharing lots of fun photos and videos of our upcoming holiday concerts next month.

NPI Christmas Light Drive

NPI is holding a light drive in preparation for the Holiday Concert, "Light It Up!" The concert will be held Thursday, December 20th at 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.

If you would like to donate new or used Christmas lights, please send them to school with your NPI student or drop them off at the front office. Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Fern will be collecting all of the lights.

Coleton's Toy Drive

SCE student Coleton Watkins is one of many CSCSHC students organizing service projects this holiday season. We'll be sharing more of these with you in the weeks to come.

Coleton's Toy Drive is in its 5th year at SCE. Each year in December, Coleton collects new toys to deliver to Riley, so kids staying there can have presents for Christmas. Coleton is a former Riley patient, and has chose this project to help give back to those in need.

Please see this flier created by Coleton and his mom for more information on how to donate to Courageous Coleton's Toy Drive.

Stacy's Sharing Closet

We're happy to share the creation of Stacy's Sharing Closet, which will provide clothing and other items for children in need at NPE. This project was created by Mrs. Bancroft and her husband Kip. Please see this flier created by them below for more information on how and what to donate to NPE:

We shared a similar project at NPJH called the Dragons Giving Closet in our last newsletter. We are incredibly grateful for your support in getting this project off the ground. Thanks to Amanda Schwyn and Lisa Clouse for organizing the Giving Closet.

NPJH is still in need of additional toiletries and personal hygiene items similar to those in the photos above. Please send them with your students or drop them off at NPJH.
