women's track & field 2018-19 Season preview

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s track and field team will begin its 2018-19 indoor season on December 4th by hosting a home meet against Trinity and Connecticut College. The Cardinals are coming off of strong performances in both the indoor and outdoor campaigns and are hoping to continue their successes this year.

Last winter, the squad placed eighth at the New England Division III Championship, as the NESCAC saw six teams in the top-10. The successes of the indoor season propelled the team into the spring, where they saw four top-four finishes at the NESCAC Championship, placed 17th at the New England Outdoor Championships, and recorded two top-seven efforts at the Open New England Championship meet. Additionally, there were three Cardinals named USTFCCA All-Region during the 2017-18 campaign. On the academic side, seven women were recognized on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

head coach walter curry's thoughts

“Despite not having a ton of depth, the women’s team will depend on championship-level talent and experience from our returning upperclassmen, along with our skilled sophomore and freshmen classes. The goal every year remains the same – to be in a position to finish in the top-12 of the Indoor Division III New England Region and to place in the upper-half in the highly competitive NESCAC meet during the outdoor season.”
