Matilda

Matilda is exceptionally good at reading and math; she teaches herself how to do difficult problems in her head while also teaching herself how to read. The only thing is, is that she is five years old; and her parents are mean to her, yet she is able to challenge herself.

Miss Honey

Miss Honey is Matilda's teacher and all of her students love her. She recognized how talented Matilda is and ends up becoming a mother figure to her. Miss Honey is a kind person and helps anyone in need.

Miss Trunchbull

Miss Trunchbull is the school's headmistress who absolutely hates kids. She is not afraid to use force on small children. She abuses anyone who gets in her way. No one wanted to challenge her until Matilda came along.

Setting

Based on the small location references, it is most likely that Matilda takes place in a small English village.

Brief Summary

Matilda is a 5 year old girl who lives with her mean parents who ignore her, making her life at home terrible. Despite this, she is basically a genius, because she teaches herself to read and how to do math. While Matilda starts going to school, her teacher, Miss Honey, realizes how smart she is. We then find out that the evil headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, is Miss Honey's aunt and is taking money from her. Matilda then uses everything in her power to help Miss Honey. In the end, she ends up moving in With Miss Honey and living happily ever after.

Turning Point

The turning point of Matilda occurred when Matilda was able to use her telekinesis powers to scare Miss Trunchbull and save Miss Honey.

Outcomes

After they scared off Miss Trunchbull, Miss Honey was able to get her house back and her life became normal again. The whole school is overjoyed with the fact that Miss Trunchbull moved away. In the end, Matilda moves in with Miss Honey, someone who can truly understand and love her.

Student Recommendation

I would highly recommend this book to someone who wants something interesting to read. The character development throughout the book makes reading this book fun to read. At first, things don't work out, but then end up working out in the end.
