The Cold war began in 1947 and ended in 1991. It was called the cold war because there was no physical battle, there was only the pace race and the fight for nuclear weapons.

Facts:

.Russia had maps so detailed of the Canadian arctic that they are still in use today

.Nobody really got killed in the war, it was more of a tension

The space race was the fight between the USSR and America to get to the moon. In 1958 the US created NASA, their national space program to improve efforts of interstellar travel. The Russians sent the first man into orbit during this time, but America ended the fight by sending men to the moon in 1969.

Nuclear arms race was a competition for supremacy in nuclear warfare between the US and USSR and their respective allies during the Cold War.
