Sierra Leone government is Unitary presidential constitutional republic

Revolutionary United Front (RUF) was a rebel army that fought a failed ten-year war in Sierra Leone, starting in 1991 and ending in 2002. They fought to overthrow the Joseph Momoh government. It later delevloped into a political party.

Sierra Leone has seen serious and grotesque human rights violations since 1991 when the civil war erupted. According to Human Rights Watch, over 50,000 people have been killed to date, with over one million people having been displaced.

The campaign Children, Not Soldiers , an initiative of Leila Zerrougui, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, and UNICEF, aims to galvanize support to end and prevent the child soldiers. The UN nation campaign and stopped the child soldiers.
