Metaphor
The metaphor "every song is a life span" is comparing a song to a life span by music being the only thing that keeps some people holding onto life. It was used to show the effects of music in a depressed persons life . The music will either give someone the will to keep themselves alive or to take their life.
The second example of a metaphor in this song is " put your hands in mine and feel this emptiness" its comparing his life to an empty vessel. This means as if he were emotionless and in other words stuck in neutral not able to feel. His body's not warm anymore as he was to have lost that life force inside of him.

IMAGERY
The song "Gravity" by Papa Roach uses imagery with " blood on my hands" to show that it's their fault that they have hurt someone physically.
The second example of imagery is "you promised me , looked straight in my eyes" portrays the situation of a husband looking his wife in the eyes promising he won't hurt her again but will anyways.

Simile
The song "Papercut" by Linkin park uses similes to make certain comparisons . The first simile " I know what it's like to have a voice inside of my head" compares the stress of negative thoughts to an inner person inside of the mind influencing every move in life.
The second simile " Its like a whirlwind inside of my head" compares all the conflicting thoughts that chasing around and around inside a persons head trying to get out on top to a whirlwind that has the hot and cold air chase each other.

love what is it , it's how far you are willing to go for the peace inside of a person going after it represented like chasing a dove

crying out for help as though we're in a Friday the Thirteenth* movie
we get through it though like a nightmare we come back awake and get out of it but we still have to deal with it
