A Message from the Principal

Community of Achievers

This term we are celebrating the great achievements of or school staff and students. Last week our Duke of Edinburgh students proudly received their Bronze Award at a special ceremony held at Parliament House. Congratulations to those 50 students who received this very deserving award and well done to our Duke Leaders: Danielle Thompson, Darcy Walsh and Cameron Ilett.

On Friday another very successful 'Dripstone Day' was held to build community spirit and service through various fundraising stalls. Over $3800 was raised in the annual 'Crop and Colour' fundraiser on the day with all funds donated directly to the Little Heroes Foundation, who support NT children with cancer and their families. An amazing effort by all involved. Congratulations to those students who were successful in auditioning for a place a the Talent Quest. The winning act went to Beau for his performance of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' dance. The audience was inspired by all of the acts made up of a range of dance, song, instrumental and musical bands. More Dripstone Day photos can be found further down in this newsletter.

Well done Beau!

Congratulations to students who competed in the FIRST Lego League Tournament against other school teams. Well done to the 'Uneentilijent Beavers' team who won the Mechanical Design Award in the Robot Design category.

Congratulations to Charleen Conroy who received a Professional Teachers Association NT Award for her meritorious contribution to the Teaching Profession in the NT. Ms Conroy plays an active role as a committee member of the Geography and History Teachers Association of the NT (GHTANT). She has also played a crucial role in running history competitions for NT students.

Professional Development Day Reminder

On Friday 23 November, all teachers and staff will be part of a Whole School Professional Learning Day. Students are not required at school on this day. Staff will discuss, analyse and plan for the progress all students have made in their reading abilities. This will assist planning for 2019.

Exciting News

We are excited to announce the opening of the media and digital studies room. This includes a Green Room which allows students to create video animations. This will allow students across Years 7, 8 and 9 to expand the presentation of their work with the ability to explore and incorporate digital media. The media space will open for student use in 2019 with an aim to offer Media Studies as an elective subject.
