TEMPERATE RAINFOREST:

Woodland that receives heavy rainfall and high temperatures. Distinguishable from tropical rainforests by the presence of a dominant tree.

Flora:

FOOD PRACTICES AND THEIR IMPACT

  • Hunting animals > disturbs natural food chain
  • Logging for high quality wood or to make free land > deforestation and loss of habitat
  • Mining occurs here > destruction of land/habitats
  • Humans are moderately dependant on this biome for wood, paper and food such as meat.

Extinction : Due to deforestation, hunting, mining, urbanisation and natural disasters.

Unknown: due to there being many solutions, campaigns, fundraisers benefiting in trying to solve these detrimental anthropogenic changes.

PROPOSALS TO IMPROVE FOOD SECURITY AND PRESERVATION OF THE BIOME

  • Donate money
  • Support the campaigns
  • Buy wood and paper from selected brands
  • For every one tree cut down two more should be planted
