Personalized Learning 7th Grade Language Arts

Personalized learning has been a shift in my classroom - it has transformed the way I teach and the way my students learn. The important thing to remember is that personalized learning starts with the learner.

Using technology to access research information.

Understanding how my learners learn best has been a high priority to me. I want to offer choices that will best meet their needs and help them achieve the maximum growth. Through a variety of assessments I have helped the learners in my classroom identify their strengths and challenges. This information helps me plan lessons that allow all learners opportunities to access, engage, and express.

Learners are able to use their creativity to demonstrate their understanding of poetry.

Some learners demonstrate mastery by writing their own poetry.

Learners collaborate to explore the style of different poets to learn more about analyzing poetry.

Having choices for how to present their learning has allowed the learners in my classroom to focus on their strengths and engage with materials in new ways.

Learners have access to a variety of different spaces and can decide where to work for each of the different skills they are focused on.

Learners are encouraged to create projects based on their passions, collaborate with classmates to solve problems, and communicate their thinking in ways that work best for them.
