Divergent

A divergent boundary is two plates move apart from each other. <--> When the seafloor spreads at a mid ocean ridge, lava boundaries can also exist in the middle of a continent. Tension is the major of type of stress at divergent boundaries. Two locations are marked: 1) the Mid-Atlantic Ridge exposed above sea level on the island of Iceland, and 2) the Mid-Atlantic Ridge between North America and Africa.

Convergent

A convergent boundary is where two plates collide. Stress is the force applied to a rock and may cause deformation. Plates will move beneath the other, which is known as subduction. Convergent boundaries form strong earthquakes, as well as volcanic mountains or islands, when the sinking oceanic plate melts. The boundary where plates slide past each other, forming strong earthquakes.

Transform plate boundary

Shear stress is experienced at transform boundaries where two plates are sliding past each other. Most are found along mid-ocean ridges they can also occur in or alongside continental crust. Where they offset divergent boundaries as series of short zigzags accommodating seafloor spreading, the best-known (and most destructive) are those on land at the margins of tectonic plates.

Real life event: Divergent

Today, the term is most often used to refer to the valley of the East African Rift, the divergent plate boundary which extends from the Afar Triple Junction southward across eastern Africa, and is in the process of splitting the African Plate into two new separate plates.

The Washington-Oregon coastline of the United States is an example of this type of convergent plate boundary. Here the Juan de Fuca oceanic plate is subducting beneath the westward moving North American continental plate. The Cascade Mountain Range is a line of volcanoes above the melting oceanic plate.

The San Andreas Fault in California is one of the more famous transform boundaries. The western half of California is moving north because it is part of the Pacific Plate, and the eastern half of California is moving south because it is part of the North American Plate.
