Mid-Winter Break: No school February 15 - 19!

A Message from Mr. Sackett

This week officially moved us into the second half of the school year!

It is hard to believe that half a year has gone by! While this year has brought its fair share of struggles, I feel confident that we are on a path toward a greater sense of normalcy. I would like to thank our students, parents, extended family members, and community members for all of their support during these challenging times. As we continue to move forward, we continue to see growth and learning taking place each and every day!

At this time, we are happy to announce that we have brought back students in our K-5 specialized program classrooms for part-time in-person learning and that they are doing well and happy to be back in-person. In a recent communication the district shared that they are, “working closely with Mukilteo Education Association leaders to reach a memorandum of agreement” about next steps for bringing individual grade levels of students back for some in person learning. In preparation for this eventual return of some elementary students, the district is surveying K-2 families about their plans to return. Please help us by filling out this survey, if you haven't done so already, so that we can organize plans to bring back one grade level at a time for in-person learning while giving families and staff notice of any upcoming changes two weeks in advance.

The health and safety of our staff and students remains a priority. In order to ensure the safety of all students and staff, we ask that families review the safety protocols shared in this family guide and talk to students and practice wearing their masks properly, practicing physical distancing at all times, washing hands, and understanding that there will be a daily screening process each day. We look forward to expanding in-person learning for more students soon.

Jack Sackett, Principal

Do you have a child who will be at least five years old by August 31, 2021, who will attend kindergarten in Mukilteo School District this fall? Registration for kindergarten classes in the 2021-22 school year will begin March 1, 2021.

Many elementary schools will have their own kindergarten programs.

Some students will attend Pathfinder Kindergarten Center, located behind Fairmount Elementary on Beverly Park Road, based on their home address. Use the online kindergarten look-up tool to enter an address and find which school your kindergartner will attend.

Starting March 1, you can register online or make an appointment with your neighborhood school to pick up a registration packet.

Immunizations are required for in person school attendance are established by the State of Washington. Students must be current in immunizations to attend school. A new state law states that students who are out of compliance with immunization requirements will be excluded from school until those conditions are met. Learn more about the state’s new immunization requirements on the district immunizations website.

For more information about kindergarten, visit the kindergarten registration webpage, contact your neighborhood elementary school, or the school district’s Elementary Education office at HemingerJL@mukilteo.wednet.edu or 425-356-1209.

Mukilteo Community News

The Mukilteo School District acknowledges that we are gathered on Indigenous Lands, the traditional territory of the Coast Salish People, specifically the Tulalip Tribes, successors in interest to the Snohomish, Snoqualmie, Skykomish, and other allied bands signatory to the 1855 Treaty to Point Elliott. The district serves a diverse population of about 15,000 students who live near the Puget Sound about 15 miles north of Seattle, Washington. Our mission is to help prepare our community's children to be successful, contributing members of the community. Our students learn in an environment that is positive, caring, and focused on their highest academic potential. And, it's working. Mukilteo students consistently score well in annual achievement tests and win academic honors. Many people have moved to the area because of the first-rate Mukilteo school system.
