Dobroyd Castle is set high up on the Todmorden moors enjoying some fantastic views of the surrounding area. It is a historic, grade two listed building, with wonderful architecture including a breathtaking main entrance hall. The 17 acres of grounds, which accommodate Robinwood adventure and teamwork activities, are also the home for a wide range of wildlife including deer, rabbits and many more.

An example timetable

WHAT DO I NEED TO PACK?

As shown at the top of the list, Robinwood provide a fleece, waterproofs and wellies for pupils so you don't need to pack these! It is going to be cold so please pack plenty of warm clothes and layers because it is not nice being cold. Don't forget towels and wash things because we get very smelly!

Due to COVID there will be no tuck shop. We will take a variety of snacks the children can have however do ask that parents add a £2 donation onto Arbor so that we can fund this.

Friday 3rd December

Children need to arrive at school at normal time. They need to go through reception into the ihall. Can parents please drop children with their bags, dressed ready to go and take part in the activities. We will be leaving school at 930am. Parents are welcome to wave children off from the bottom of the drive. We appreciate that some pupils may be teary in the morning and do ask that parents encourage pupils into the ihall so staff can ensure they are settled before we depart.

Medication

When you drop your child at school on Friday, if your child needs medication, you will be asked to complete a medical form. All medicines will be collected by Ms Billingham. Any children requiring inhalers need to have them with them at all times. Staff will check that pupils have inhalers in bags before any activity.

In the case that a pupil has a headache we can, with permission, administer the recommended dose of liquid paracetamol (Calpol). To give your permission for this please follow the link below. On collection we will inform you if any paracetamol or first aid that has been given over the weekend.

CAN I SPEAK TO MY CHILD WHILE THEY ARE THERE?

There is limited phone service onsite and the staff state that no phones are to be bought onsite by pupils. We will be tweeting and blogging as often as possible so please keep and eye on twitter feeds. We may even try a few Facebook lives (maybe from the giant swing!)

If there are any emergencies we will contact you so please think no news is good news!

Sunday 5th DECEMBER

Children will arrive back at school at 4pm. Please be ready to collect at the school gates for this time. Any changes to this time will be communicated.

Monday 6th December

We appreciate that the pupils will be very tired on their return. Because of this students don't need to come in until 1245pm ready for their afternoon of learning, this will not affect their attendance. We also appreciate that some families will want to have their children return to school at normal time and so children can be in school as normal on Monday morning when they can enjoy a breakfast and reflection on their weekend producing a learning log to celebrate everything they have experienced.

We can't wait to go!
