The RMS Titanic was a ship that started sailing on April 10, 1912 in Southampton, England all the way to New York, But the ship hit an iceberg causing it to sink. The Titanic had 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class passengers. 1st class passengers had to pay $430-$3300 they had 329 passenger in 1st class. For fun 1st class passengers would go to the ships swimming pool, gymnasium, and they also took Turkish baths which is basically sitting in a sauna they also had orchestra played for them in various different rooms in the Titanic . Passengers in 1st class had to pay around $430-$3300 altogether there were about 329 1st class passenger, in 1st class for fun the less energetic people would go to the ships orchestra and the perform in a bunch of different rooms, for the more energetic people would go to take Turkish baths, go to the ships swimming area, and would visit the ships gymnasium.Passengers in 2nd class had to pay average $65 they had about 285 2nd class passengers altogether, in 2nd what they would do for fun would play ring toss, shuffleboard, and board games such as chess, and backgammon.Passengers in 3rd class had to pay average $35 the 3rd class passengers area was not very formal they hung out at the poop deck. They had about 710 passengers altogether in 3rd class.The Titanic was built by Harland and Wolff and operated by white star line. The captain was Edward John Smith. The Titanic departed on April 10 1912 at noon. It departed at Southampton, England and its destination was New York. There were 1,343 passengers on board and 885 crew members. The Titanic sank on April 15 1912 it took 2 hours and 40 minutes to sink. There were only 710 that had survived. There were 2228 people on the Titanic.The Titanic was thought unsinkable because it had 16 water tight compartments that were only supposed to have 4 filled up. Instead the Titanic turned and poked more than 4 of the water tight compartments. The amount of water tight compartments were ruptured. So the Titanic had more weight on one side than the other and it had gone up in the air and half was still in the sea so the Titanic broke in half.They had 3 elevators on the Titanic. The Titanic had many nicknames but the most important ones were Wonder ship, Ship of dreams, last word in luxury, and millionaires special.The Titanic was going 23 knots when it struck the iceberg. It costed 7.5 million to build the Titanic and today it would have costed about 174 million.The Titanic originally had 64 compartments but claimed it looked bad so they put 20 on there. The Titanic top speed was 26 miles per hour.
