History of the Groundhog

Cody scott

What is the history of Punxataney Phil? In Germany the tradition evolved into a myth that if the sun came out on Candlemas a hedgehog would cast its shadow predicting snow all the way into May. Also, when German immigrants settled in Pennsylvania they transferred the tradition onto local fauna, replacing hedgehogs with groundhogs. How old is Punxataney Phil? According to the President of the Groundhog Club Bill Deeley Phil is 134 years old having been magically alive since the ceremony began in 1887.But the average groundhog can live up to 6 years. Where do they keep Punxataney Phil? Punxataney Phil lives in a rural area about two miles outside of Punxsutawney proper, he lives in the town library.

A Hollywood film in 1993 Columbia Pictures released the film Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. While the film depicts the real life events and takes place in Punxsutawney, producers decided to film the movie in a location more accessible to a major metropolitan center. Punxsutawney is located in a very rural area with few highways so Woodstock Illinois was chosen as the filming site for the movie.

A little more history about Punxataney Phil was located in Western Pennsylvania, about 80 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. The town was first settled by the indigenous Lenape tribe in 1723 and its name comes from the Indian name for the location which means town of the sandflies. Lastly Phil's fame began to spread and newspapers from around the world began to report his predictions.

New Strains of The Coronavirus and What They Mean

Jason Loverti

The new strains of the COVID-19 were founded recently by some Ohio researchers and they suspect that the 2 new strains were developing while in the U.S. It may panic people to hear but as most people thought, yes the new strains did make it more transmissible and easier to catch. This does not mean that COVID-19 is impossible to get rid of but it just means more people will have to be more cautious of what they do.

There is also no evidence that says these new strains make it invulnerable to a vaccine so if you were to have it go to the hospital immediately to get the vaccine. Not only have they found new strains in Ohio, they have also been reported in the U.K. and Africa. Africa has found a new mutation that occurred with the virus called N501, which makes it more contagious.

If you are scared about the Pfizer vaccine not working, do not be alarmed as the vaccine will cure you, no matter the strain. These new strains of the coronavirus may frighten people but they have the right to be frightened as the virus continues to evolve.

Social Media Career

Emily Verne

Social media platforms are always changing, so marketing and management tactics must change along with them. This can make for a very exciting career, as you're always learning new things and meeting new challenges. You'll certainly never be bored! It's an excellent choice for those who already live on the cutting edge.

It's not enough for brands to simply have a social media account anymore. Now, they're expected to consistently produce interesting content and engage with their audience. In some cases, social media engagement may be just as important as television commercials. All of this means that there are lots of job opportunities out there and if you're skilled enough, you'll be an irreplaceable asset to any marketing team.

Having the opportunity to be creative at work is a huge plus for many young people. And because social media combines so many different aspects photography, marketing, advertising, communication, writing, technology, pop culture, and more it's a sector that appeals to people from all different walks of life. Social media careers especially appeal to younger generations because they provide a chance to create and distribute unique, shareable content while making a difference for a brand they care about.

The Best Ways for Students to Learn About Bills and Money

Jason Loverti

Some of the best ways for students to learn about finances and bills are to take classes that involve things like money management or businesses. Most of the time your high school has a financial literacy class you can take which will teach you all the basics of finances and bills.

Another good way to learn about bills and money is googling certain parts of financing that you want to learn, there is usually good information for what you are looking for on the internet. The next way for students to learn about bills and financing is to ask your parents as they already know and you could learn some valuable information about financing.

A good way to learn about financing is taking classes either online or in person, since you can talk to an expert about finances that can teach you the most information. Finances and bills are very important to everyone, not just students, so I would recommend learning as much about them as they will help you throughout your life. They are very crucial and are something that schools should teach about more as they are really important but if that is not an option in your school try out online or in person classes as I said before and also ask your parents for tips about financing and billings.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Drew Baughey

Ubisoft has once again added to the popular game series of Assassin's Creed. Valhalla is the 13th game in the series and this time you are in 873 A.D. in Viking times. Once you start you watch the backstory from when you were a child and a raid happens and you watch your parents get killed and you play 15 years after that tragic event. You pick the gender of young Evior. You set up your home called Ravensthorpe and start building your community. You have many shops to build after you have Raw Materials that are only available from raiding. There are 9 buildings for settlement which are the Bureau, Barracks, Shipyard, Merchant Outpost, Cartographer, Blacksmith and Groundskeeper.

There are also wandering knowledge keepers around the world and if you give them the desired amount of iron or silver they will tell you where you can find mysteries, artifacts, gear, books of knowledge and ingots. Books of Knowledge allow you to gain new abilities to increase your characters fighting skills. Mysteries and artifacts give you xp after you solve them and find them. Gear can be shields, armor or weapons and ingots are trading items.

Leveling up and gaining xp will give you skill points. These are used to give your character more health, stealth, damage or new tactics to help you succeed. After using skill points you increase your power and there are places that strongly suggest you have a power level of at least 240 before attacking and you can check these by hovering over them on the map and it’ll tell you the suggested power level.

There is a group called The Order that you kill members of through the game. For the people that played Assassin’s Creed Odyssey this is the same as the Cultist when you found clues and uncovered them. For the ones that didn’t play you will find them hidden throughout the world and uncover clues. Unveil them after all the clues are found.

You have helpful resources to help you along the way. For instance you have the Raven which you can use by pressing up on the d-pad for Xbox and Playstation players. You also have Odin’s sight allowing you to see what your surroundings are by pressing down on the left stick.

A personal review of the Iphone XR

Tristan Watson

The Iphone XR is not the newest phone but it is a phone that I personally own so I will try to give you the reader a fair and just review about it.

The Iphone XR is decent when it comes to battery life but that's because I constantly use my own but it should be really good. The storage of the Iphone XR contains about 64 GB of storage, perfect for all those pictures and music and mobile games

The Iphone XR is really good at running mobile games with good graphics and smooth gameplay. However I do not recommend cranking up the graphics mostly due to rapid battery loss.

The camera itself is a pretty good one at most although i don't take too many pictures but whenever I do take pictures they turn out really good.

The phone itself is really durable (counting all the times I dropped it without its case).

A review of Hitman 3

Tristan Watson

Hitman 3 as of today has been released and will be available on most consoles and pc’s.

Hitman is a stealth third person shooter where you play as a hitman and you must eliminate a target by any means necessary and your only problem is that the target may be guarded.

Hitman three appears to be a direct continuation of hitman two (I do not know the events of what happens in hitman two) it uses the same menu and mission selection.

In Hitman three’s first mission you appear to be on a skyscraper in Dubai, you appear to be wearing some protective gear and you also appear to be aided by a man called Mr. Grey

Your target: Carl Ingram, he awaits in the penthouse with his security on high alert. With further analysis Mr. Grey seems to be in charge of hacking and bypassing security and he also seems to be leading the mission he doesn’t make any actual showings but he assists you via radio, with help of some simple parkour agent 47 manages to make his way to the lower levels of the penthouse. This will be all I will describe without spoiling but Hitman 3 promises a stealth third person shooter like it always has been.

Is Organic Worth The Extra Money

Blake Himes

All of us take a trip through the produce aisle when we visit the local grocery and there are always two sections: organic and non-organic. The question now is which one should we buy?

This discussion has two different sides. One side says it doesn’t use pesticides and it is much safer and healthier. The other side says that it doesn't affect your food any when you use chemicals on it. Choosing which side is correct is hard. Insecticides and other chemicals do more damage to animals than anything. It can kill important animals that farmers need. Pollinators is a huge part of keeping meadows and other things going if all these died we would lose many valuable things. Right now they are killing around 65 million birds a year with it and every year it grows. In the future this can become a big problem if we don't get a fix. A lot of people say eating non-organic food can kill you from chemicals, but that just isn't true. There are a few very rare cases of people getting sick from it but this is even mostly caused by improper use of pesticides.

Another bad thing about pesticides is that they can pollute the air around farmlands. This is another big problem because it can begin affecting livestock in the area. There are many problems with pesticide but it is a cheaper option because not as many plants die. My advice is if you have the money to buy organic I would. If you don't have money to spend on more expensive food then don't do what you can but don't break yourself trying to go organic.

Capitol Building Recap

Brennan Garrett

A rally in support of President Trump turned deadly when hundreds of people rushed the U.S. Capitol building on Wednesday January 10th. The chaos in the nation's capitol began midday Wednesday at a “Save America” rally at the Ellipse, a park near the White House. Federal law enforcement vehicles raced to the Capitol in an effort to beat the mob there. Soon, after getting through barricades and security checkpoints, the protests were inside the building, forcing lawmakers to go into lockdown. Members of the angry mob were going from door to door waving confederate flags, looting the offices, and chanting that Trump was the real winner of the election. Lawmakers were forced to retrieve gas masks from under their seats as tear gas was released into the rotunda. A woman was shot in a standoff between officers and protesters in a stairwell outside of the House Chamber. The woman, Ashli Babbitt, was one of four people who died in the mayhem.

As the minutes turned into hours of protesting politicians called on Trump to instruct his supporters to leave the Capitol. In a Twitter video that was removed from Trump's page, Trump told them to go home, but repeated that the election was "stolen" from him and said he "loved" the protesters. People still stayed in the Capitol minutes before the 6 p.m. curfew ordered by Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser began.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 2

Cody Scott

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is an Android based foldable smartphone developed by Samsung Electronics for its Samsung Galaxy Z series succeeding the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. It was announced on 5 August 2020 alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7, the Galaxy Buds Live and the Galaxy Watch.

Samsung has come out with the new Galaxy Fold 2. There are many questions about this new device. Will it break after extended use? One person said “I can’t really say it will be as durable as a normal phone, I do have a fair amount of faith that this fold 2 won’t damage itself through normal use”.

Some good things about the new phone is it’s big and has a high refresh rate glass screen. Also, it has improved on the tablet interface. Now the bad things are awkward form factor when closed, and very expensive. Another thing is cameras are a step down from the Note 20 ultra or galaxy S20.

A little bit about what it looks like is still a phone shaped thing that unfolds vertically into a tablet. There's still a small gap between the two sides when it's closed, which adds to the overall thickness of the device. When closed its a very tall phone and thick devices not like an iphone where its small. But overall it's still about the same size as some of the iphones that are out. Lastly,it has a 7.6 inch display with minimal bezels and no notches.

How Much Sleep Should Students Get

Timothy Scarberry

How much sleep someone needs depends on their age. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine has recommended that children aged 6–12 years should regularly sleep 9–12 hours per 24 hours and teenagers aged 13–18 years should sleep 8–10 hours per 24 hours. A lot of students though do not get the proper amount of sleep because of staying up all night playing games, watching youtube or tiktok.

There are some students that only sleep basically. They sleep as soon as they get home and when they get to school so it seems that they have hypersomnia which is a condition in which people have excessive daytime sleepiness. This means they feel tired during the day. Hypersomnia can also include situations in which a person needs to sleep a lot. This may be due to other medical conditions, but can also be due to a problem in the brain.

Why Do We Need Farmers

Blake Himes

We need farmers for many different reasons. One of the biggest and most important is they supply us with food. Most people think that is all we need them for but actually they are a big part of the economy because of how much they sell and buy. If all farmers stopped buying and selling stuff most markets would plummet. Many people would also be out of jobs not just at the farms but at the processing plants too.

Most people think farmers are people who farm crops or animals. But in reality there are many different kinds of farmers that produce many other things than just food. Think about cotton farmers without them a lot of our clothes market would slow down. Another good example is bees. Without farmers to harvest their honey food prices would go insanely high because most food has some honey in it.

Farmers tend to work hours many people would think is insane. If something happens at 2 am they have to get up and go check it out they can't just stay in bed. A lot of times they have to make sure their animals are fed plenty. They also have to know when a cow is about to have a calf. This is just an example for one farmer to think about the struggles for all the different farmers too.
