Mapplewell Primary school Newsletter Autumn Term 1 2021 / 2022

Welcome back, we hope everyone has enjoyed the Autumn break and found time to play, read, create, be active and relax!

I would like to start this newsletter by simply saying… WOW… what a fantastic Autumn Term 1 we had. Ample learning took place from EYFS all the way up to Year 6 and pupils in every class made us proud daily.

Towards the end of the half term we had our HCAT School Evaluation Review, which was extremely positive and demonstrates the hard work, commitment and ongoing efforts of all staff and pupils - thank you!

Our wider curriculum focus over Autumn Term 1 was Geography, across school we learnt new skills and knowledge and became Geographers in our lessons. It was great to see a clear progression of learning from our youngest to eldest pupils and the discussions around learning and vocabulary used blew me away!

Each class shared a Class Newsletter at the end of half term, sharing with our families the wonderful learning that had taken place and an insight into Autumn Term 2 topics and learning coverage. If you haven’t yet read these please navigate to the buttons below. Further updates have been added as we return to school to highlight the learning to commence in key subjects over the next half term.

Nursery Newsletter to be shared by 5.11.21

Thank you as always to our parents/carers for your ongoing support, it has been great to see the school resume to normality since reopening in September and as always your support is much appreciated. Feedback from some parents / carers has been focused around home / school communication. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that our school channel of communication is Arbor and all old apps should be removed from your devices as they are no longer in operation. Through Arbor we offer regular texts and emails to keep you up to date with school events. We are also going to introduce a new weekly bulletin. This will give you a quick insight into the week ahead. The weekly updates will be emailed out via Arbor each Monday and published on the school website.

Many thanks,

Mrs Padfield

After school clubs

It has been great to see so many children enjoy our clubs, we can’t wait to see more faces this half term.
Don’t forget to book your child’s space on Arbor. They may really enjoy participating in one of our many after school clubs… Art, Athletics, Girls Football, Gymnastics, Cross Stitch, Cooking, Board Games, Mindfulness, Reading, Music and Choir.

Celebrations

We love to celebrate attendance, school values, reading, TTRS and class dojo’s.
We also celebrated the fantastic achievement of Mr Garrood and Mr Taylor who both became Senior Leaders of Education

Parents evening

Thank you to everyone who attended Parents’ Evening and the feedback on our Microsoft Forms survey. Please see below some FAQ raised.

Phone signal not great / prefer face to face

We completely agree face to face evenings are more personal and provide you with the opportunity to see your child’s learning in school. We are hoping that for our Spring Parents’ Evenings we will be able to resume to face to face appointments in school, this however is COVID dependent.

Never got a phone call

Appointments were precooked via Arbor, if you were unable to make an appointment please contact school directly and ask to arrange a convenient time to talk to your child’s class teacher.

Specific targets to be worked on shared

Our Parents’ Evening reports clearly highlighted targets from Year 1 to Year 6. If you felt these were not clear or would like to discuss further please contact school to speak with a member of Senior Leadership who will happily support.

Nursery Parents’ Evenings

These will be rescheduled ASAP and dates shared W/E 5.11.21
