49ers vs. Rams 49ers shutout rams to open 2016 season

The 49ers defense registered the first shut out in franchise history on opening day. It marked the first shut out by the team since 9/30/12 (34-0 at NYJ).

LB Ray-Ray Armstrong recorded his first career interception.

The 49ers defense held the Rams to 185 total yds. (65 rushing, 120 passing), ranking 2nd in the NFL in Week 1.

The 49ers offensive line did not allow a sack on 35 atts. by QB Blaine Gabbert. It is the first time the 49ers did not allow a sack in a games since 11/8/15 (25 atts. by Gabbert, 1 att. by QB Colin Kaepernick vs. Atl).

RB Carlos Hyde rushed for 88 yds. and 2 TDs on 23 carries. It marked his fourth and fifth career rushing TDs on opening day, the most among running backs over the last three seasons. It also marked Hyde’s second career 2 TD game (9/14/15 vs. Min.).
