Behind the Door of D4! March 10th by: Sparky News - Landon, Devon, Ava

Mrs. Parnell's Corner

We have been so busy using the laptops practicing and getting ready for our AzMerit testing in April. Please note we will be testing April 4th, 6th and 7th as well as April 17th and 18th. Please try to arrange appointments for a different day and make sure to arrive at school on time.

Snacks - if you would like to donate any snacks for our testing days they would be greatly appreciated. Hard candy is great to keep us motivated and awake. :)

I hope everyone has a fantastic Spring Break! There will be no assigned homework, however, if you get bored, log onto on a computer and do either Achieve 3000, Dreambox or Moby Max and have fun.

Congratulations Emma Agee for winning the Be Kind Award! Have fun at the Diamondbacks Spring Training Game!!!

DIY Experiments

Obleck Balloon

First, get a balloon or two it depends on how much you want, and get 4 cups of cornstarch, get 2 1/2 cups of water and a bowl too! After that pour 2 cups of cornstarch and 1/2 of the water, mix it up as much as you can. Wait at least 30 seconds. Then go ahead and pour the rest of your ingredients in the same order as before, oh and also get a funnel if you don't have one than you can use the cup that you used for the water. Pour the Obleck into the balloon and then Throw It!

Slip and Slime!

Ok, now if you want to make this DIY then you'll have to use the same thing we did last time with the Obleck balloon and you'll do that but a lot more! After that get a tarp and pour It!!!!!!! and SLIDE!

DIY'S For Your Room!!!

(by Ava)

Painted mason jar for your supplies

First, what you do is get a mason jar form your local store. If you go to target you can just get them from the dollar section, they are only 3 bucks. Next, you get your favorite acrylic paint and personally I love the colors teal and a pastel pink. Then, you get a sponge brush and you get your acrylic paint, and paint the inside of your mason jar so it will not be a hot mess. Finally, you can put any decoration on your mason jar so it can be amaze balls!!!!!!!! For the final touch you can add markers and pencils inside the mason jar!!!!!!!! There you have it your painted mason jar DIY pencil holder for your room!!!!! (By Ava) Obviously! LOL

WHAT WE HAVE BEEN LEARNING IN READING THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IN READING WE HAVE BEEN READING "RIDING FREEDOM" AND IN THE STORY WE WERE LEARNING ABOUT THE DIFFERENT STAGE COACHES. ONE THING THAT THE WHOLE CLASS WAS DOING WAS MAKING COMPARISONS ON HOW THE DIFFERENT STAGE COACHES DO SOME OF THE SAME THINGS. FOR INSTANCE, SOME PUT THEIR LUGGAGE ON THE TOP OF THE WAGON,SOME PEOPLE SIT ON THE TOP OF THE WAGON, AND SOMETIMES FOUR HORSES OR TWO HORSES WILL PULL THE WAGON.

WE HAVE ALSO BEEN LEARNING ABOUT SIMILES AND METAPHORS. A SIMILE IS A FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE THAT COMPARES TWO THINGS USING LIKE OR AS.

A METAPHOR IS A FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE THAT MAKES A COMPARISON WITHOUT LIKE OR AS.

Math Time!

This week we've been doing decimals and fractions. We are deciding how to convert fractions to decimals to make them equal too! We are also getting ready for AzMerit tests by doing these type of equations. And parents we have an equation for you too! Good Luck!

Parent Homework

Also don't forget do it on Paper so its easier!

2/10+6/10+7/100+4/10+2/10=? Write as an improper fraction, a mixed number and a decimal.
