The Lord of the Flies A digital journal

Welcome to this blog post where we are going to learn together.

This unit has a couple of different objectives in addition to the Common Core objectives for Reading Literature. We will listen to the entire book and stop frequently to clarify your understandings and refocus our attention on the details important to the novel. As we work through this novel, we will periodically be responding to prompts and discussing characters, themes, and the plot of this very famous novel through your own blog. My hope is that you walk away from this experience someone who enjoys a novel and leaves with more questions than answers. There will be time in class to work on your blog, but I also encourage you to work on it outside of class as well. It will be fun to check out your friends' posts to see how they reacted to the book and our prompts. Look to have an experience that will stick with you.

It is here that we will respond to characters, the plot and different scenerios that will guide us as we work through this novel.

Thursday, April 6, 2017 - What dangers do you see as a person stranded on this deserted island. Be specific and explain your answers.

Friday, April 7, 2017 - Create a list of characters and add details about them using textual evidence. Below is an example.

Monday, April 10, 2017 - Write down the rules we created as a classroom from the board. This is something we will return to. In the meantime, pick the rule you find most important and explain why that rule, above all others is most important.

Wednesday, April 12, 2017 - One of the themes of this novel is survival. Explain why the setting of this story adds to or contributes to the theme.
