I am a proud resident of Shelburne who was born and raised in Scituate, RI. I met Lauren, my wife, during our four years together at Colby College. We both played collegiate rugby at Colby and met while taking Educational Psychology together. We have two daughters, Lily (7) and Tessa (4). Our family moved to Vermont two years ago. We had spent the previous 10 years living and working just outside of Boston. After relocating, I continued my career as a public school leader, Lauren left the teaching ranks and created Lauren Sivo Photography. You can now find her photographing the most beautiful weddings, events, and landscapes that Vermont has to offer.
I LOVE school!!! Children are the Sivo family business. My entire immediate family (father, mother, sister, brother, and myself) are all public school educators. My rough math puts us somewhere north of about 100 combined years in public schools.
I started my career as a Teach For America corp member in Rocky Mount, NC. I taught social studies at George R. Edwards Middle School. When Lauren and I decided to leave North Carolina, I became a history and government teacher at Hull High School in Hull, MA. I was later named the school's assistant principal and held that role for six years until we relocated to Vermont. I've spent the last two years as the assistant principal of Middlebury Union Middle School in Middlebury, VT.
My Favorites ~ Food - buffalo chicken wings; Sports - I am a big Boston sports fan. I am the biggest University of Rhode Island basketball fan in the world! My father and I once drove 26 hours just to watch them play a game. I also like to travel the country to attend the biggest days on the thoroughbred horse racing calendar (Saratoga, Derby, Preakness, Belmont, Breeders Cup); Color - A closer look at my photos reveals that 90% of my wardrobe is some shade of blue; Drink - coffee and water (all day long); Fun - fishing, family, home improvement, taekwondo, fantasy sports; Dessert - anything with apple and cinnamon in it.
I look forward to meeting the entire SCS community. Please reach out with your questions, concerns, or ideas. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call me at (802)985-3331 ext. 121
