Bron in 1890, North Dakota, James Gatz is from a poor family who lived in a farm. His parents were unsuccesseful.
He never imaginated himself poor. perhaps, his family was. So, he decided to run away and start a new life.
He entered in the fishery industry. He met Dan Cody's, a sailor and became his assistant.
Cody taught Gatsby how to be a gentleman.
Dan Cody was always drinking and Gatsby told himslef that he will never abuse of alcohol.
Cody bought Gatsby a blue coat and six pairs of white duck trousers.
Gatsby stayed five more years with Dan Cody; Dan Cody inhospitably died.
