1. Moses Austin moved to Spanish Missouri after his lead mines failed. 2. Stephen F. Austin lived in Arkansas Territory.
3. Baron de Bastrop was a Dutch businessman. 4. Erasmo Sequin was a rancher and the alcalde of the town.

5. Cotton gins are devices that separate cotton fibers from seeds. 6. Militia is an army made up of citizens who serve when necessary.

7. Josiah Bell and his brother, James Brown Austin were early settlers. 8. The first settlers to Austin's colony arrived in 1821.

9. By March 1822 some 150 people has settleded along the Brazos River. 10. Stephen F. Austin was 27 years old when he learned of his father's death.
