'A' Fest A fun time was had by all

'A' Fest was designed to bring the community of Amherst, N.S., together to celebrate what makes the town a great community in which to live, work and play.

It succeeded!

It started on Sept. 14 with the Hodge-Podge Market, a climbing challenge and some entertainment.
Residents had the opportunity to skate with the Amherst Jr. A Ramblers on that opening night
Amherst Mayor David Kogon was joined by members of Amherst town council to officially open the festivities on Sept. 14.
Family First leader Sonia Minocha led those attending the event in Dickey Park in some stretching exercises to limber them up for the activities that followed.
There was more entertainment
There was pie and a corn boil
Some played soccer, while others played in and on the hay maze
There was a massive road hockey game, put on by the Amherst Jr. A Ramblers
There was a demonstration of judo and an opportunity to give it a try.
Some baseball was thrown in as the U15 Baseball Atlantic Championships were held in the town over the weekend.
Families had fun at the outdoor movie and the midway
Sept. 15 saw a petting zoo, more treats and a family walk around Dickey Park during the Family Fun Day
The mosh pit filled with bubbles was also a hit.

There were many other activities including a fashion show, a performance by Physic Medium Michelle Russell, lazer tag, pickelball and an 'A' Fest church service.

Fun was definitely had by all.

Amherst really is a great place to live, work and play.
