In wet conditions Norwood started the match well with a number of inside 50 entries. In form wingman Lewis Johnston kicked the first of the match from 50 metres giving the home side the perfect start. With the rain pouring, Norwood could only manage a 13-point lead at the first break.

Shrugging off the Bloods in the second term, the hosts got their spark from veteran forward Simon Phillips – who kicked two of his four goals in quick succession to put a meaningful space between his side and the Bloods. In form midfielder Matthew Nunn was able to kick his first of the night two minutes later, wheeling around onto his right to give his side a handy 27-point lead.

As the rain began to stop at the beginning of the third term, West Adelaide kicked the first of the quarter through young gun Izak Rankine. From then on Norwood started to dominate possession of the ball as midfielders Mitch Grigg and Matthew Panos caused headaches for the Bloods around the stoppages.

Speedster Anthony Wilson kicked the Redlegs first of the term with a trademark running goal, while Shenton and Dawe both capitalised on their chances to extend the lead to a game high 37-points.

A move then to the forward line for Panos allowed him to kick two goals in a row before Bampton, Hamilton, Grigg and Richards put the margin beyond doubt at three-quarter time.

After some lovely movement out of the centre Grigg found Brady Dawe who marked 45-metres out from goal. Dawe kicked truly to extend the margin to 76-points.

Much of the last term was spent in the middle of the ground with Norwood outscoring the Bloods with two goals to one. Norwood finished plus 20 in marks (89-78) and plus 24 in inside 50’s (65-41) showing the Redlegs work rate to spread from stoppage and move the ball quickly.

After notching up their 10th win in a row, Jarrod Cotton’s men face the Eagles this Friday night in a top of the table clash at the Parade.

In tough conditions, Norwood weathered Wests charge relatively well and trailed by only one point at the first change.
