[11/13] - Volleyball Opens NCAA Regional Play on Thursday ... Florida Southern College volleyball will begin its quest to win a second-straight NCAA South Region title when it takes on No. 21 West Florida in the opening round of postseason play on Thursday at 5 p.m. in West Palm Beach. The Moccasins (21-10) earned their ninth-straight NCAA Tournament bid when selections were announced on Sunday evening and are coming off a massive upset of then No. 9 Tampa (3-1) in the regular-season finale on Saturday. - (read more)

[11/13] - Mattson Named SSC Player of the Year, Martin Earns Second Team Honors ... Nicole Mattson was named as the Sunshine State Conference volleyball Player of the Year, and Rachael Martin earned second team all-SSC honors when the conference office announced its annual volleyball awards on Tuesday afternoon. Mattson, who was also named as a first team all-SSC selection, is the fifth Florida Southern volleyball student-athlete to win the SSC Player of the Year award and the first since Sara Stewart in 2000. - (read more)

Nicole Mattson was named as the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) South Region Player of the Year, and Rachael Martin earned second team all-region honors when the D2CCA office announced its annual volleyball awards on Wednesday afternoon. Florida Southern College volleyball hit the 20-win mark for the seventh-straight year as it swept Rollins, 3-0, in Sunshine State Conference action on Friday night at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (20-10, 12-7 SSC) dominated the Tars (4-25, 1-18) with a stifling defensive performance that saw Florida Southern hold Rollins to a hitting percentage of just .021. - (read more)

[11/10] - Mocs Upset No. 9 Tampa on Senior Day ... Nicole Mattson and Rachael Martin each tallied double-digit kills as Florida Southern College volleyball snagged a huge upset over No. 9 Tampa on Senior Day at Jenkins Field House on Saturday. The Moccasins (21-10, 13-7 SSC) knocked off the Sunshine State Conference's top team as it took a 2-0 lead on the Spartans (27-4, 17-3) and hung on in an extra-points fourth set to come up with a massive 3-1 victory. - (read more)

Florida Southern to host NCAA South Regional Championship on Saturday ... Florida Southern College along with Central Florida's Polk County Sports Marketing will serve as hosts for the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's South Region Championship on Saturday, Nov. 17. The event will be staged at Lakeland's Holloway Park and Nature Preserve. The men's 10K race is set for a 7:30 a.m. with the women's 6K following at 8:45 a.m. Click here for more information.

Florida Southern's Mason Jones, Josh Wagner, and Dean McGregor have been selected to the All-Sunshine State Conference first-team while Mitchell Kozik was named to the All-SSC second-team. Sophomores Hannah Flemming and Addison Cantor have been named to the All-Sunshine State Conference first-team as announced today by the league office. Florida Southern College women's basketball will tip off the 2018-19 campaign with a pair of neutral-site contests at the annual GSC-SSC Challenge this weekend on the campus of Saint Leo University. After helping lead Florida Southern College men's basketball to a pair of victories on opening weekend, junior guard Brett Hanson has been named as the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Hanson helped lead the No. 22 Moccasins to wins over West Alabama (76-68) and Delta State (79-74) by tallying nine steals and 13 rebounds (nine defensive) over the weekend. - (read more)

[11/09] - Lawton Leads Men's Basketball Past UWA in Season Opener ... Jonathan Lawton poured in a game-high 23 points as Florida Southern College men's basketball opened the 2018-19 season with a 76-68 victory over West Alabama on Friday afternoon at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House. The No. 22 Moccasins (1-0) put together an incredible first half on offense by scoring 46 points in the first 20 minutes, and were able to hold off a late rally by the Tigers (0-1) to avenge last year's season-opening loss to UWA. - (read more)

Four different players scored in double figures as Florida Southern College men's basketball capped off a perfect opening weekend with a 79-74 win over Delta State on Saturday evening at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House. [11/09] - Mocs Pick Up Six Singles and Two Doubles Wins at FIT Invite ... Florida Southern picked up six singles wins and a pair of doubles victories on day one of the Florida Tech Panther Women's Clay Court Invitational played here Friday at the Kiwi Tennis Club. Minnie Kim, Selin Devrimci, Magda Stepnik, Avery Hunter, Lola Asis and Gabby Hesse all picked up wins in their respective singles flights while the team of Stepnik and Lorena Rionda won in doubles as did the pairing of Hesse and Asis. - (read more)

Florida Southern continued its strong play at the Florida Tech Panther Clay Court Invitational as five singles players remain undefeated in their respective singles flights in the round-robin event. [11/11] - Mocs Take Two Doubles Titles; Rain Washes Out Singles at FIT Invite ... The Florida Southern doubles teams of Magda Stepnik and Lorena Rionda along with Gabby Hesse and Lola Asis took top honors in their respective flights at the Florida Tech Panther Clay Court Invitational played here Sunday at the Kiwi Tennis Club. [11/08] - Quaempts Named to Google Cloud Academic All-District Team ... Florida Southern College women's soccer junior defender Caitlin Quaempts was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® team announced on Thursday afternoon. In her junior year, Quaempts started in 14 of her 16 games played and recorded two goals as a prominent member of the Moccasins defense. - (read more)

[11/08] - Gums Earns Spot on Academic All-District Team ... Florida Southern's Christoph Gums has earned a spot on the 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, marking the fourth year in a row the Moccasins have been represented on that squad. The junior midfielder from Greifswald, Germany made the team in his first year of eligibility and will now move forward on the ballot for the Academic All-American Team. - (read more)

[11/14] - D2CCA All-South Region Men’s Soccer Team Announced; Gums Voted First Team ... Junior midfielder Christoph Gums has been voted to the Conference Commissioner's Association Division II All-South Region Men's Soccer Team this week, adding to his list of postseason awards. He was previously selected First Team All-Sunshine State Conference and to the academic all-district team. - (read more)

[11/07] - Top-20 Soccer Moments at Barnett Field, #1 (November 5, 1971) ... The task of paring a list of 500 games down to 20 was at times daunting, and there were some challenges involving soccer that were not present for softball, the subject of our first countdown last spring. Some of the games we've presented over the last several weeks were easy to choose, and the only question was where they would fall on the list, but there was never any doubt as to which game would occupy the top spot. - (read more)
