AIARE 1: Decision Making in Avalanche Terrain

Are you prepared to travel in the backcountry?

No matter where you are, if you are out of bounds you should not only carry the tools you need to respond to an emergency but have the education to travel safely and avoid creating an emergency for your crew and others around you. An AIARE Level 1 course is the first step in learning to travel responsibly.

At the end of the AIARE 1 course you can expect to be able to:

  • Plan and prepare for travel in avalanche terrain.
  • Recognize avalanche terrain.
  • Describe a basic framework for making decisions in avalanche terrain.
  • Learn and apply effective companion rescue.
Don't worry you get to ski too!
Come ready to challenge yourself both mentally and physically!

We work with AIARE Educators who are passionate not only about teaching the skills you need to stay safe, but also about getting out into terrain and having a great time skiing along the way. Don't think that this is just classroom time.

Raven Patrol is based in New England, and so we are super excited about helping to put on more classes on Mt. Washington, but if you aren't here or want more information on destination AIARE courses, get in touch and we will get you in to the best course available for you!
