In 1799, Napoleon Bonaparte seized political power in France coup d’état. Napoleon crowned himself emperor in a Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris in 1804.

Napoleon was exiled to the island of Elba after abdicating the throne two years after a disastrous French invasion of Russia in 1812, but returned to power briefly in his hundred day campaign.

The Battle of Waterloo.

The Battle of Waterloo took place in Belgium on the 18th of June,1815. This was the final defeat for the French army and military leader /Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.

The remote island St Helena.

Napoleon was exiled to a remote island called St. Helena and that is where he died at the age of 51.
