Poetry Study By Chelsea Glavin

She just wants to be, beautiful

She goes, unnoticed she knows, no limits

She craves, attention she praises, an image

She prays to be, sculpted by the sculptor

Oh, she don't see, the light that's shining

Deeper than the eyes can find it

Maybe we have made her blind

So she tries to cover up her pain, and cut her woes away

Cause covergirls don't cry, after their face is made

But there's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark

You should know you're beautiful just the way you are

And you don't have to change a thing

The world could change it's heart
No scars to your beautiful,

we're stars and we're beautiful

Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh,

oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

And you don't have to change a thing

The world could change it's heart

No scars to your beautiful,

we're stars and we're beautiful

She has dreams to be an envy, so she's starving

You know, "covergirls eat nothing"

She says "beauty is pain and there's beauty in everything"

"What's a little bit of hunger?"

"I could go a little while longer", she fades away

She don't see her perfect, she don't understand she's worth it

Or that beauty goes deeper than the surface

Ah oh, ah ah oh,

So to all the girls that's hurting

Let me be your mirror, help you see a little bit clearer

The light that shines within

There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark

You should know you're beautiful just the way you are

And you don't have to change a thing

The world could change it's heart

No scars to your beautiful,

we're stars and we're beautiful

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh,

oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh

And you don't have to change a thing

The world could change it's heart

No scars to your beautiful,

we're stars and we're beautiful

No better you than the you that you are

(No better you than the you that you are)

No better life than the life we're living

(No better life than the life we're living)

No better time for your shine, you're a star

(No better time for your shine, you're a star)

Oh, you're beautiful, oh, you're beautifu-u-u-ul

There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark

You should know you're beautiful just the way you are

And you don't have to change a thing

The world could change it's heart

No scars to your beautiful,

we're stars and we're beautiful

Woah-oh-oh-oh, woah-oh-oh-oh,

woah-oh-oh-oh-oh-, oh-oh-oh-oh

And you don't have to change a thing

The world could change it's heart

No scars to your beautiful

we're stars and we're beautiful

Alessia Cara's purpose for this song is to help all woman realize that they are perfect just the way they are. One line of lyrics says "The world could change its heart". What she means by this is that the world can change their views to accept what women look like. This line demonstrates personification and so does the next one. In the next line it says "No scars to your beautiful". Which means that no matter what you look like the scars don't matter it's all about what's in the inside.

Beautiful just the way you are

Driving through this world unknown, I've built my life on broken bones

Not living for this anymore, you want a fight I'll bring a war

I feel alive inside I won't be terrorized, I'll take all the blame

This heart of fire is burning proud

I am every dream you lost and never found

This heart of fire is stronger now

Build your walls but you can't keep me out

I'll burn 'em down

I am every vow you broke, they left for dead and turned to smoke

Arm yourself with words of hate, I'm ripping through the souls you take

I feel alive inside I won't be terrorized, I'll stand up to the pain

This heart of fire is burning proud

I am every dream you lost and never found

This heart of fire is stronger now

Built your walls but you can't keep me out

Let's burn it down!

This heart of fire is burning proud

I am every dream you lost and never found

This heart of fire is stronger now

Build your walls but you can't keep me out

This heart of fire, fire, fire

This Heart of fire (Fire), fire (Fire), fire (Fire)

This Heart of fire

Black Veil Brides purpose for this song is no matter what you do I'll still get through the war. One stylistic device is personification. "This heart of fire is burning proud. This line says the heart is burning proud when actually our hears can't do that. The second stylistic device is a metaphor. "Build your walls but you can't keep me out". This line means that nothing can keep me away.

I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath

Scared to rock the boat and make a mess

So I sat quietly, agreed politely

I guess that I forgot I had a choice

I let you push me past the breaking point

I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything

You held me down, but I got up (hey!)

Already brushing off the dust

You hear my voice, your hear that sound
Like thunder, gonna shake your ground

You held me down, but I got up

Get ready 'cause I've had enough

I see it all, I see it now

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter

Dancing through the fire

'Cause I am the champion, and you're gonna hear me roar

Louder, louder than a lion

'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar!

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

You're gonna hear me roar!

Now I'm floating like a butterfly

Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes

I went from zero, to my own hero

You held me down, but I got up (hey!)

Already brushing off the dust

You hear my voice, your hear that sound

Like thunder, gonna shake the ground

You held me down, but I got up

Get ready 'cause I've had enough

I see it all, I see it now

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter

Dancing through the fire

'Cause I am the champion, and you're gonna hear me roar

Louder, louder than a lion

'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar!

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

You're gonna hear me roar!

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

You're gonna hear me roar!

Roar, roar, roar, roar, roar!

Katy Perry's purpose for this song is her way of saying that she is going to keep her eye on everyone and fight back when needed. The examples of stylistic devices are similes. One is "your hear that sound like thunder, gonna shake your ground." The second one is "Now I'm floating like a butterfly." These two similes represent the power of a living things and how you may feel as you were one.

Silence, crickets are chirping

The stars are shining

The wind is blowing ever so slightly

No one on the roads

Full moon shining down

Darkness wraps around the town

Emotions are fully let go of

Wind blows around whispering secrets

With a calming hush that has set everything free

With the endless clouds creating the magical scene

Showing dancing shadows in the field of wheat below

The wiping branches dance along with the shadows of the night as a if a festival of darkness

Lifting you so mysteriously into another world of happiness

Where nothing is wrong and all is calm but yet vibrant

Mystical eyes wandering beyond what the naked eye can see

The 1st mind sees the only darkness but the magic eye of minded see the vibrant colors of the darkened world of night

Collapsing into a world that wants more than what is there

As the world believes it needs more and more popularity but yet has enough love and joy to cover all

When all that matters is the soul within

And the heart that beats with it

That whispers “Can we stay?”

The words repeat but mean something different and worth more every time it was repeated

Playing the melody with a single breathe sending it across the world

Making it worth more than anything with a single bear of a heart to make it keep rhythm

Living it full throttle with evimovement of tenderness

Kalysta Koelling and I came up with the conclusion that this poem's purpose is how it feels when you are walking alone and at night wherever you are. There are two signs of personification. One is "Wind blows around whispering secrets," This means that we gave the wind a person like feature. "The wiping branches dance along with the shadows of the night as a if a festival of darkness" is another example. This example shows that branches are dancing when they actually can't.
