In the book The Hunger Games Katniss takes her sisters place in the games. She meets new people and gets closer to Peeta, learning he is in it to win it and is actually a kind guy. Peeta admits he has had a crush on Katniss for a while before they enter the games. Sticking with her instincts Katniss stays by herself until she meets the little girl Rue which gets killed by another tribute before Katniss can get to her. Nearing the end when there is only a few tributes left Katniss starts to look for Peeta realizing they need each other and he hasn't been killed yet. Finding Peeta blended into rocks Katniss takes Peeta to a cave to tend to his wound and nurse him back to health. Cato try's to kill Katniss and Peeta at the cornucopia after Katniss and Peeta were chased there for the final battle. After the Death of Cato, Katniss and Peeta both go to kill each other so they don't have a winner and the games end. Both Katniss and Peeta get to live because they are "in love".

In the movie The Hunger Games, Katnisses sister is selected out of her district for the hunger games. Her friend Gale promises to take care of her family. Peeta a boy who helped Katniss when she was starving was also picked with her to go into the games. Haymitch, the man who is supposed to help them get sponsors and train them, is drunk when Peeta and Katniss first meet him. District 12's stylist wants to give them a new look so they are first seen on fire. that's how Katniss gets her name, the girl on fire. everyone hates district 12 because they made the best entry into city circle. Katniss show the game makers her skill in bow shooting when she hits the apple in the pigs mouth to get their attention. going into the games Katniss gets into a fight when they are released off of their pads as she goes to get a bag. Katniss meets a little girl who dies because she didn't come in time to save her. as the last few people live Katniss starts to look for Peeta. She finds him camouflaged into the rocks near a little stream. he is endangered. They stay in a cave together as Katniss takes care of him. They get closer and get more sponsors who send medicine and soap for Peeta. Nearing the end of the games the last people left are Katniss, Peeta, and Cato. Cato try's to kill both Katniss and Peeta but ends up falling off the cornucopia. Katniss and Peeta don't want to kill each other so they are about to eat poisonous berries when the capital stops the games and lets both of them walk out alive. They live, because they are "in love".

some differences between the book in the movie are is where Katniss got the pin. in the movie Katnisses little sister gave her the pin and in the book she got the pin from the mayors daughter. another difference is Peeta's dad didn't bring her cookies in the movie but he did in thew book. In the movie Peeta was told to not show everyone how strong he was so they wouldn't know his best skill but in the book Katniss and Peeta were told to practice things they didn't know how to do.

I liked the movie more than the book because i enjoyed the way everything was put together and the things that were changed in the movie from the book. Most of it was the same so its hard to pick one. I am more of a visual person so seeing something helps me understand a story more.
