January 2019 Head of School Highlights LaVonne McIlrath, LCA Head of School

"... do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31b

New Year's Day is a day I reflect on the past year, and I look ahead to the new year. As I look back, I write a list of events and circumstances from the past year that I'm thankful for - specific times that God answered prayer or provided for specific needs. Not every day is a great day, but focusing on the long list of blessings is not only encouraging, but it tends to make the dark days fade into the background as God's goodness shines through. Then I enter a list of goals for the upcoming year and commit them to prayer, asking for the Lord's help in attaining what He wants me to accomplish this year. Next year I'll reflect on what He was able to do in me and through me in 2019. "...but this one thing I do forgetting those things with are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)

"You can't do much to change your past, but you can surely do a lot to improve your future."

All Pro Dads is a group of Dads who love their kids and their community! Besides having breakfast with your kids and enjoying time with them through intentional discussion and activities, you also get to know fellow dads and help each other be the best role models you can be.

This month's theme is LOYALTY. Relationships are built on loyalty. Loyalty means standing with someone in the good and bad times. Come join us for our 2019 Kick-Off of All Pro Dads on January 25th in the LCA Plex.

"Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples." Psalm 96:1-3 (NIV)

Coffee & Conversation postponed until february

Due to unforeseen circumstances our Coffee & Conversation for January has been postponed until February 6. Mark your calendar, and we'll put the coffee on!

We love you and will miss you, Mrs. Burtnett!

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the resignation of Mrs. Jenny Burtnett effective at the end of this semester on January 22. She and her family are moving to Xenia, Ohio, where her husband has accepted the position of Senior Pastor at the Mt. Zion Church. This is a an answer to their prayers for the opportunity to serve in a full-time church ministry. Mrs. Burtnett and her three children, Peter, Johnny and Caroline, joined our LCA family in the fall of 2014. Since then she has greatly enhanced our art program, specializing in graphic design. She has been instrumental in rebranding our logos, updating our web site, as well as teaching middle and high school art. During the next couple of weeks be sure to express to her your love and appreciation for all that she means to you and for all that she has contributed to LCA.

Don't forget to re-enroll by January 31. Open enrollment begins February 1 and full classes are anticipated.

The mission of Liberty Christian Academy is to provide a quality Christian education in a Christ-centered environment in order to reach students for Christ and equip them to serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action.
