Friday Night Grand Experience We were invited out to a fun night, courtesy of the Kranzberg Arts Foundation!

In Good Company

We were joined by several St. Louis bloggers to spend a night on the town experiencing Grand Center and all that the Kranzberg Arts Foundation has done to transform the area! We started off at the new .ZACK location, which used to be Plush back in the day.

Our tour guide for the evening, Robert!

Classy Space, Classy Digs

Our night began at Sophie's Lounge, a loft-style bar located on the second floor of the .ZACK building on Locust Street.

This is the Crew's Day Off, created by Jeremy Pevnick of Sophie's Lounge.

  • Diplomatico Rum
  • Campari
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Cold Brew Coffee
  • Cardamom Bitters

Vinyl Wonderland

On the second floor of the .ZACK building, you can find the appropriately named Music Record Shop, which specializes in used and vintage music.

We were tempted to start rocking out to some Phil Collins.

Event Space, Plus More!

The third floor houses a renovated event space, with one of the most amazing bathrooms we've ever seen. It was the size of a New York City studio apartment!

We were not the only ones impressed...

Pure style, Jill!

All the World's a Stage

The first floor of the .ZACK building houses a theatre where plays and concerts will be held. The Kranzberg Arts Foundation is a community-driven organization dedicated to providing local, emerging artists and community arts organizations the resources necessary for the arts to thrive in St. Louis

Beautiful day for some food and booze...

We walked down Locust and then Olive to get to the Grandel Theater for some food, wine, cocktails, and live music.

BTW, the Grandel Theater was originally built in 1884 as the First Congregational Church. It has changed hands over time, including Shakespeare St. Louis, the Repertory Theater of St. Louis, and the St. Louis Black Repertory Company.

Bright Times in the Dark Room

Our group continued on to a delicious meal at the Dark Room, prepared by Chef Samantha Pretto.

Ladies of Blogging

Christine and Whitney from The Newlywed Chefs perusing the menu...

She was very excited about some of the food and drink options...
We also got to meet her friend, Rachel!

Food bloggers in the wild!

With an appearance by Julia of Oh, Julia Ann!

Classy Shot, Charlie!
So many DSLRs!

We of course ate lots of stuff!

Shrimp & Grits
More Hummus!

Christine's Favorite

Christine noshed on the salmon carpaccio platter, with shallots, capers, and shaved hard-boiled egg.

Charlie's Favorite

And Charlie's favorite was the Artisan Grilled Cheese with Bacon!

"Tangled" at the Black Box Theater

Best Friends... or are they?

Our evening ended at the Black Box Theatre, with a showing of the play 'Tangled'. It was a crime drama that featured all local students and actors.

Star of the Show

Grand Experience?

Most Definitely!

We had a great evening! We were especially surprised at how the old Plush location has transformed since the Kranzberg Arts Foundation turned it into .ZACK. There was a lot of really neat things going on there and we will come back there again sometime soon to look for new vinyl and get some more awesome cocktails!
