Derrick Walton Jr. put up a double-double today, first of the season and sixth of his career, with 13 points and a season-high 11 rebounds.

This was the second meeting between the Wolverines and the Illini this season. The Wolverines came out fighting today to avenge a tough loss against the Illini just 10 days ago. Overall, Michigan has won 11 of the last 13 games over Illinois and John Beilein is 13-7 all-time against the Illini.
The Wolverine defense was on fire today forcing 17 turnovers resulting in 22 points. Illinois' 57 points is the second lowest so far this season.
U-M's average scoring margin in Big Ten games is 6.5 points, which they exceeded today, out-scoring Illinois by 9. Michigan's biggest lead of the game was 21 points with just under six minutes left in the game.
U-M's offensive rebounds were key in the 66-57 win over Illinois scoring 14 points as a result.
DJ Wilson had 19 points today and a combined 38 points against Illinois this season, both were team-highs.
